Is Corey Hart Glam?
You remember Corey Hart, right? The Canadian who rose to fame in the 80s thanks to songs like "Never Surrender" and "Sunglasses at Night." I never really considered Hart Glam until yesterday when I was randomly listening to "Never Surrender" and it dawned on me that the song sounded a lot like Sleez Beez-era Glam. Now, "Never Surrender" came out in 1985, so maybe the song laid the groundwork for Sleez Beez? At any rate, I think "Never Surrender" is definitely Glam, even if the rest of Hart's work is not. And at the end of the day it doesn't matter because I love the music regardless!

great commentary Nik, and I agree completely. But also, I think that this song is one of their most under-rated songs (although it is their only one to go to #1- including the Van Hagar era). It is mostly underrated because of the music/keyboards and the popiness to it, but not necessarily for the lyrics; which if people knew the incarnation of this song and where it was taken, and how it has sustained over time, people might also recognize DLR as the true artist that he "also" is.
As roth quips (to the diehards): if you like my music, tell a friend. If you don't like it, well then...tell an enemy.
Downloading it into my AOR Playlist right next to Honeymoon Suite now! To give you an idea about how I like my AOR, I don't have any of the aforementioned artists in my collection accept Honeymoon Suite. Though I had both "Jesse's Girl" and "I've Done Everything For You" plus "Sunglasses At Night" on my iTunes for five minutes a couple of years ago, Tonto didn't find the guitars crunchy enuff, so I jettisoned the tunes into outer space.
Fletch! Good points, as usual. Especially love the Diamond Dave quote. Gotta say, "Jump" has grown on me over the years and I've always loved the line from the song, "Can't you see I got my back against the record machine?"
If that ain't the plight of the popular artist loud and clear, I don't know what is. It's commentary on Warner Brothers pressuring VH to turn out a hit. Well, here you go WB! Here's your hit! With a little jab (nick?) at you inside the hit about Corporate America pressuring us for a hit! Classic Roth Irony.
But do I really need you "nicking" me with the "Nik"?
Let's see if we can put this in terms you are capable of comprehending:
You Fletch. Me Metalboy!
Thanx!
oooppps, there goes my rebellious streak, again.
peace/rock on, MB
Hey, Rita, if your checkin', there's a Trixie CD on EBay right now at a "Buy It Now" price of $8.00. Or you can check indy label Metal Mayhem's site. It's worth the price just for their killer Glametalized version of Springfield's "I've Done Everything For You" alone!
