Saxon Release 'Sacrifice' Electronic Press Kit

YES. Sacrifice is going to be a badass album. Metal ya'll. The album will be out March 26 in America (same day as the new Sevendust album, which is amazing by the way).

Gonna be seein' 'em live, pointblank, on "The Monsters of Rock Cruise".

If I run into Paul Quinn on the ship, I will hand him my black hoodie with the "DESTINY" album logo patch sewn on the sleeve.

Speaking on behalf of my ex-lead guitarist and myself, THAT album is, not only Saxon's best, by far, but also in the top 5 of The Best METAL Albums of All Time!

Really looking forward to this. saxon has been bringing it at an extremely high level for the past few years. Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst?!?!

I saw Saxon, point blank, on their "Rock The Nations" tour in 1986 at Hammerjack's in Baltimore. They opened with "Dallas 1 PM" and closed with "Wheels Of Steel" but played everything in between -- stuff like "Crusader", "Power & The Glory", "Denim And Leather", "We Came Here To Rock" and "Princess Of The Night".

Their performance was mind-boggling.

p.s. Trivia -- Elton John appears on two Saxon tracks; "Northern Lady" and "Party 'Til You Puke".

Doh! Sir Elton appears on two tracks from Saxon's "Rock The Nations" album.

Saxon has been on a major roll since at least Dogs of War, and certainly since Killing Ground, I cannot imagine the new one being less than stellar.

Here's hoping they finally do a proper tour of the USA!!

Yeah, and not a "Spinal Tap" one, which is what Saxon's been known for over the decades.

That's why Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer travelled with them on tour in the mid-80's to research that movie.

My ex-lead guitarist has seen 'em 3 times and what will soon be a 4th on The Monsters of Rock Cruise.

The 2nd time he saw them was around 1991 or so at a venue called Jaxx in Virginia, one of the premier Rock Clubs in the Mid Atlantic and still going strong. For that particular tour, Saxon always made a grand entrance on stage to the strains of Richard Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra", better known as "Theme to 2001: A Space Oddysey".

That particular night he caught them at Jaxx, suddenly, right at the climax of the song, the house CD player skipped and got stuck in that crazy high tech shrill spinning sound equivalent to a thousand high speed pieces of squeaking chalk scraping across a blackboard.

Of course, both band AND audience cringed in horror, quickly raising their palms to their ears. Someone obviously had to lunge for the sound system a la Marco Rubio reaching for his Poland Spring.

However, once the house P.A. was rassled under control, Saxon took the stage, cranked the amps up to 11 and proceeded to tear the roof off the place. Trouble is, there were only 50 people in the audience and, though they were blown away, all they could talk about after the show was that damned CD skipping.

Epitaph: Thanks to Jack for reminding me of that Jack's story and his hopes that Saxon will finally get their due after all these years. They deserve it.

Metalboy!, did Jack die? If so, my condolences. If not, any ole epilogue will do (heck, even a post-script will work in a pinch).

See? I equate your postings with epic pieces of literature (save when you're slagging on good bands . . . Up the Irons, isn't that the phrase?!!?).

Hahaha!!!, HIM! Ever the touchéist when it's not necessary. I have no idea about Jack.

You know what? Actually, I think the place is called JAXX, now that I really think about it.

Therefore, there is no Jack, to the best of my knowledge.

But the story is not literature. It's non-fiction.

I'm very disappointed that I never saw Saxon. They were supposed to open for Motley Crue but Accept opened instead. It was still a great show (early Crue!) but crazy, general admission. Rita and I were up at the front and I can remember lifting my feet off the ground at one point and still being upright. I think it was 1983.

Metalboy, I checked out the Monsters of Rock Cruise. It looks AMAZING! You're going to have a fantastic time!

Carolyne! WOW! You saw Accept open for Crüe up front in '83?! THAT is SO Large! I've seen Accept twice but the first time wasn't until '92.

You should go on MORC! It is an unbelievable, unforgettable experience.

And you can finally catch Saxon! ; )

p.s. I'm also stoked to see Dio's Disciples, Cinderella (classic line-up), Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns, Vixen, Lita, TNT, Dangerous Toys, Keel and last but not least, Stryper!
