Trailer For 'Inside L.A. Metal' Documentary Available

Thanks to Facebook, I stumbled across this little gem last night: the trailer for the new documentary about the L.A. hard rock and metal scene. The documentary is called Inside LA Metal and it will be a multi-part series. I have a gut feeling that we're all going to really love and appreciate this series.

The trailer features interviews from people you'd expect (Don Dokken, Lars Ulrich) and lesser known but hugely influential types (Greg Leon). Then there's details, like adding Dante Fox behind Jack Russell's name instead of simply listing Great White.

The film series is directed by Bob Nalbandian (of the early 80s Headbanger fanzine). The DVD has a planned release date of February 2014.

This is pretty much the soundtrack to my high school years.
So many people I knew then, & still know now are going to be included in this... just in the trailer alone. As mentioned, Greg Leon, who most of you won't know, but actually was Randy Rhoads' replacement when Randy left Quiet Riot to join Blizzard Of Ozz, & he also was in Dokken BEFORE George Lynch. Long time scen leaders Ala Carte & Snow were also mentioned. What gave this total credibility was the 2 quick clips I saw of the band WOLFGANG in there. Wolfgang were the undisputed kings of the circuit. They were a bigger draw than Van Halen, they were a bigger draw than Quiet Riot. Years laterWolfgang's guitarist & bassist Steve Plunkett & Randy Rand found moderate success as members of the band Autograph.

I know Bob from the Ultra-Rare L.A. 80's Hair Metal CD & Demo Tape Collectors World -- A world most of you are unfamiliar with except for Ace (because he LIVED it), since you've never ventured beyond the Billboard Hot 200 or Headbanger's Ball to find your Hair Metal.

It will be cool to see this film series as CDs (if your lucky enough to find them or if the band even released them), 45's, LPs or Demo Tapes of bands like Dante Fox or Wolfgang and others too numerous to mention, trade for hundreds, even thousands.

In other words, it will be a pleasure to get the REAL story of the L.A. Strip as Bob pretty much knows where all the bodies are buried. Can't wait to see it!

HAIR metal. I love HAIR metal. You can tell I have so much respect for HAIR metal because it's all about the HAIR not the music. Everybody is unfamiliar with HAIR metal. HAIR metal goes far beyond the billboard hot 200 and headbangersball. Cause what it boils down to is the HAIR not the music obviously.
