Styx Live In 1976 - Great Footage!

Styx = not Glam, but sure entertaining! I wasn't even close to being born when Styx performed at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco back in 1976.

I like watching vintage rock concert footage because it shows you how we got where we are today. Plus the fashions are a hoot!

I haven't checked out the footage yet but I have always said Tommy Shaw should have been the lead singer of Styx.

Dennis DeYoung is a singer I have always disliked.

Excellent find! This is particularly cool because Styx wasn't huge yet at this point. Outside of their home town of Chicago, you'd only hear them every once in a while on FM AOR stations. and yes rita, Tommy was, and still is, a far better singer than Dennis. Not to mention that Dennis is responsible for ill-advised projects such as Killroy. Watch the VH1 Behind the Music about Styx. the rest of the band rips into Dennis pretty hard.

This was obviously supporting "Crystal Ball" and Tommy was "the new kid", still finding his feet within the band.

Pretty cool, although I'm not a big fan of his vocals, I always liked the songs James "JY" Young brought to the band, like "Miss America" & "Queen Of Spades". Nice version of their classic from the Wooden Nickel Records era, "LADY" represented here. Funny enough, they are the one big band from that era I've never seen live.

I think Dennis DeYoung is a far better singer,,if it were a Vegas lounge act. Styx were a rock band and DeYoung was a crooner. He has a great voice and songwriting style fit for Broadway or the Barry Manilow crowd.

These guys are actually pretty good live I've seen them a couple times in last 7 or 8 years. Once with bad company and billy squire other with REO speedwagon and April wine both shows were great and all the bands rocked.
