Queen and Adam Lambert Tour Rumors

According to Blabbermouth, the rumors are mounting that Queen with Adam Lambert will tour America this summer. If that happens, I swear I will absolutely freak out. Like, you have no idea.

Roger Taylor told NME that the band is talking to Adam... and hey, everyone needs to make money, right? I was fully expecting to have like one tour (Motley Crue) to look forward to this summer. Now summer is looking up, concert-wise.

I can't wait for this announcement... I hope it happens!

To me sacrilegious.

I often watch Freddie's Live Aid performance on YouTube. He was magical.

I don't begrudge surviving members at allif they do this. I just can't imagine being there and caring. A queen tribute band would suffice. I know , I know Brian and boys are top notch musicians.

Freddie is incredible no doubt. But I cannot pass up an offer to see Queen. Oh my god, im so excited. I'm not particularly big on Adam Lambert but he can sing the Queen stuff.

I'd rather have Paul Rodgers or James Durbin (The only real rock that ever came out of Generic Idol) He is the real deal. Not this Adam guy. Don't get me wrong, I just don't like Adam....

ON his own, I don't care one bit about Adam. But, to keep Queen rolling & out on tour once again,he is the right flamboyant queen for the job. His vocal range & voice tendencies are at least similar to Freddie's, and in Russia he show he was up to the gig. Passable. Freddie's level will never be met, or surpassed, but Adam puts on an acceptable substitution.

Like I said, it's enough just to see a form of Queen touring once again. As much as I like Paul Rodgers voice, He was the wrong choice for a replacement. Even George Micheal was a better fit.

Agree with Ace and DJ except Ace calling Lambert a "QUEEN", as clever a word play as it is in this context.

Everyone should be allowed to let their "freak flag fly" without being judged.

Accidentally or not, Ace is right. The use of the term "queen" isn't a slur, even inside the gay community, unless it is used that way.

Words are weapons, as someone said, that can hurt sometimes. But what Ace said doesn't strike me as striking down a "freak flag." Fly em' if you got 'em.

Lenny Bruce, prescient as he was, recognized that harmful language is in the eye of the beholder . . . and the destroyer. Totally get your point Metalboy! Totally do. But I think direction/intention is key in this case.

Lambert celebrates who he is and seems proud to be a "queen." I support that.

If you like this, you'll probably really freak out when the Def Leppard / KISS / Poison summer tour is announced...

It wasn't a slur @ Adam at all. Queen is a band that only works with a flamboyant, charismatic, somewhat effeminate "queen" as a frontperson. Adam & Freddie both fit that model. Paul Rodgers does not. George Micheal did fit as well. In my opinion, when Adam fronted the band in Russia, he held back to much... He should be exactly who he is, and be unafraid of any criticisms for it.

P.S. MB, Me? Seriously? That would be highly hypocritical of me. As a lifetime unashamed glam artist who's worn more cosmetics than most "Playmate Of The Year" contenders, do you really think I'd be slandering him and using queen as derogatory? Not! In fact, I applaud it!

I wouldn't go see it if they gave me free front row tix. & it has nothing to do with ol dude's gayness. You just can't replace Freddy Mercury, sorry. Some bands are over when their lead singer passes on, Queen happens to be one of them. The Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Who, & The Beatles, are other examples.

One of the few I never did get to see back in the day. If it's within 100 miles (Philly) odds are really good I'm in. (Homey is a Big Brian May fan.)

Right, boyz.

On a lighter note...

I was fortunate enough to see Queen Fourth Row at Capital Centre, Largo, MD 1982. Still got the ticket stub somewhere. Mercury was astounding, as was the rest of the band, Brian May, in particular.

One of THE Greatest Shows I've Ever Saw at Cap Centre, Led Zeppelin, May 27th, 1977 being the standout.

I have to ask, Metalboy!, given your deep bin of "holy crap" music moments: any shows you went to that you were excited to see and they just sorta' fell flat?

Envy your concert experiences, yes I do.

This REALLY smokin feline friend invited me to go see Tears For Fears at Baltimore Civic Center in 1985. I theorized I could fake it through it and then tell her how much I loved it AND one thing would lead to another.

Man, that show just left me stunned with how much I wa not into it. I just could not fake it and it must have been written on my face how I could not wait to get out of there. By the time we got back to my place I was practically rollin' out of the car a la Tim Hulce in "Parenthood"!

I have been to MANY shows -- Rock & Roll, Classic Rock, Glam Rock, Punk, Metal, Glam Metal, New Wave, Jazz, Soul, Classical, Electronica, etc.

And I'm thinkin' Tears for Fears is the ONLY band I've ever seen that left me bored and flat!

Thanks for the reply, Metalboy! Given the range of music you have witnessed, it surprising only one real clunker.

So..Ace or Anybody else here?

Does anybody have any clue as to what is going on w/Queen?
I've been reading for over a year about how they are working on a new compilation CD that will feature the new/rare unreleased songs that MJ & Freddie worked on back in the day.

I am a big fan of both & have heard & been blown away by the demos but I am old school & would love to be able 2 buy the songs on CD. Listening 2 stuff on youtube is lame compared to a actual CD.

Can anybody help a sister out?

When I first heard him sing on tv I thought he would do Freddie justice. If this tour takes place I hope they hit Michigan.

Jakki,
I've been reading about that new CD they have been talking about as well. The last I heard is that they found a "new" song with full Freddie vocals. That will also be featured on it. No word on when it will actually be released though.

So Metalboy! Was it worth it when you got back to your place? Or rather, was she worth it?

Can't imagine she would be. Tears for Fears?????
February 18, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRita
worth it all rita. it's (unfortunately) the price you gotta pay, for them to play our way. they'll get it, too. (hopefully soon).
February 18, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterfletch
