Advertising Goes Too Far For My Blood

Ok, I'm all for the bands we love making some cash off their hit songs, but this latest ad takes the cake... er, bun. Wendy's is using Mr. Big's "To Be With You" in a pretzel bun ad. I mean, the commercial literally made me cringe when I saw it last night. Whatever I guess. I suppose the guys in Mr. Big thought it was worth it.

This is supposed to be funny, but it's not. Plus, this song royally s*cks which became even more apparent to me when I saw Alice In Chains open for Mr. Big at The Cat Club in NYC back in the day. Needless to say, Alice In Chains blew Mr. Big off the stage.

That said, I am in love with the redhead who plays "Wendy", however.'

By the way, I'm guessing she's being payed close to a $1,000,000 a year from all the royalties she receives for appearing in the campaign.

Umm, yeah. I'm with you Allyson. Very cringeworthy.

Ditto MB. She's a cutie! Funny what you said about her earnings, because I just said the same thing to my wife about the actress that plays "Flo" for Progressive Insurance. She's carved herself quite a nice little gig out of doing those ads. I'm betting she easily turns into 7 figures a year range.Good work if you can get it! Lol

I cringe on a lot of these commercials. Its cool to wanna make a few bucks but if I was in a band I would wanna stay away from that type of thing. I was never into Mr Big though.

a couple thoughts come to mind here. First, Mr. Big basically whored themselves out by writing "To Be With You" in the first place, so this is just an extension of the initial whoring. Second, as cringe-worthy as this is, it's not nearly as bad as the other ad where they butcher Eric Carmen's "All By Myself."

True, True, Bob.

Good work, indeed, Gary.

Crue, "Home Sweet Home" for Coldwell Banker Real Estate, AC/DC, "Back In Black" for Walmart's campaigns promoting Black Friday, now Mr. Big, here.

Wow, man, they definitely know their demographics.

What next? "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake for...

Speaking of CHEESY pandering in commercials, did anyone see the Nissan one with that clown who'll sign any endorsement, no matter how tacky, Brett Micheals?

They got one thing right. All the crash test dummies were bald & wearing bandannas

Yeah, Ace... Frickin' hilarious.

This is THE best thing Michaels has done since POISON.

One thing I'll give the guy... He does know how to be self deprecating.

I saw mr big in a club back in the day in detroit. It was a very boring show. I'm really not into bashing bands, but that's the way it was.
