Giveaway: 'The Big Book of Hair Metal'
On August 15, Martin Popoff's new book The Big Book of Hair Metal: The Illustrated Oral History of Heavy Metal's Debauched Decade will hit store shelves. The book takes a nice, long look at the music we love so much complete with previously unpublished quotes, anecdotes, photos, and memorabilia.
Bands in the book include Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Poison, Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Warrant, Great White, Whitesnake, Cinderella, Vixen, Skid Row, L.A. Guns, Guns N' Roses and more.
I'm actually reviewing this book for the Dayton City Paper and that write-up will be featured in mid-September. When I mentioned that review to the publicist, he thought it would be cool for me to give away a copy of the book to one of you lucky BBG! readers as well! To win the book, simply shoot an email to allyson@bringbackglam.com and put "Popoff Book" in the subject line. I'll need your full, legal name and mailing address as well. Anyone in the world can win. Entries that don't include an email address or full name will be discarded. Enter by Sunday, August 3 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Good luck.

Horrible name for the book!
It might be nice but that extremely stupid glam metal hating title just ruins it for me.
That is so damn dumb. Might as well just take a dump all over the brilliant glam Metal music from the 80's!
The book seems to look cool but the title is just so stupid and dismissive. Why so much hatred for badass 80's metal? What sane person would ever think "Hair" is a style of metal?
Cover looks like it it trying to emulate an old Circus or Hit Parader mag from the 80s; it doesn't quite hit the mark IMO.
Interesting info, Mike!
Perhaps people wouldn't be freaking out so much then.
Thankfully everybody else here understands that. I don't get why people are offended at all. If the music was actually remotely good then sure I could see why anybody would be up in arms about it, but judging from the posts from everyone after the first 3. Everybody else is in agreement with me that the music sucks big time, only losers who don't have a clue about real metal would care if people are mocking it.
In fact, MY Big are:
1) Motley Crue
2) RATT
3) Cinderella
4) Poison
Not boring a*s MetallicUGH!, Snorer, or Anthacks. That said, I do like Megadeth, for all the obvious reasons, as their music and message are vastly superior to those of the others.
Of that ilk of Metal, I also prefer Overkill over them, as well.
But it's GLAM METAL, also often referred to as "HAIR METAL", that is my favorite subgenre of Metal.
