Michael Schenker's New Album Gets Release Date

Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock will release Spirit On A Mission March 23. The first single from the album is "Vigilante Man." One of the best guitarists out there - I'm looking forward to this one.

This sounds as if it was released in 1988 . . . and I don't mean that as a bad thing.

Schenker's gone a bit Uli J. Roth in his views as of late (and, to be fair, was always a bit of a space case). I suppose a touch of metaphysical meandering doesn't matter so long as the live show keeps slaying people. And they do.

Unlike Roth, however, there was a very real chance that he wouldn't be up on stage in 2015. And unlike, say, Frehley (who I also enjoy and respect for still being around doing what he does), the sound is as good as it has been. Frehley stil has it . . . just not as much as he used to have in the 70s and 80s.

This band is also, potentially, awesome: Ze German? Francis "Don't let me look at your accounting ledger" Buchholz? Doogie "Always a Bridesmaid" White? Sure, I miss Barden, and Bonnet, with McAuley never really hitting me right save on "Anytime" where he just nails it. But this could help keep him on the festival circuit and club loop fairly consistently.

Bottom-line: are lucky Schenker got things under control and is still bringing it to audiences. And keep your damn fingers crossed . . . it wasn't so long ago that it looked like he was gonna' go the way of Peter Way (who is, surprisingly, still alive and struggling due to a life of rock n' roll excess!?!?).

Random observations (meant in jest): Does anyone else think Buchholz looks like Jamie Lee Curtis? And what is Doogie hiding under that leather Member's Only jacket?

Very funny, HIM, as usual! Love it all except why does he have to call it "Temple of Rock"? It's like if James Dean called himself cool. Shoulda just stuck with MSG.

p.s. I love both McAuley Schenker Group albums, "Perfect Timing" and "Save Yourself", particularly the songs, "Gimme Your Love", which is probably my fave, "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow", "Love Is Not A Game", "Time", "Save Yourself", "Bad Boys" and, of course, "Anytime", as you mentioned.

I can totally understand people liking McAuley. He just didn't do it for me aside from "Anytime."

I think the whole ToR thing is part of his spacey nature. You read interviews with him and think, "Well, that was interesting."

Either way, just glad that there is a chance I will get to see him again on stage, swaying back and forth, making metal lovers happy.

OK, HIM... Lemme get this straight... You don't like anything other than "Anytime"? Refer to my p.s. once again, if you please. That sh*t ROCKS!
