I guess here's my real complaint about the band I loved from the first minute I inserted "Too Fast For Love" in the 8-Track of my buddy's '68 beater Mustang the day the Elektra version of the album was released....
After a while, Sixx started mailing it in. Shame to see such a talented writer go into halfa*sed mode at such a young age, considering he essentially gave up the true craft of songwriting after the Corabi project, save for the song, "Saints of Los Angeles".
Still, if the situation arises, I will see if I can take a last gasp to go see their last gasp. After all, there still could be a chance they might trot out a few almost forgotten killer old ditties during the grand finale.
Too Fat For Love on 8 TRACK? Wasn't that released 2 or 3 years after the format died?

From 'Too Fast For Love' up to 'Generation Swine' (& the 2 new songs from the 1998 'Greatest Hits' CD) all of those albums are home runs for me.
They had some killer songs in the past 15 years..."Saints Of Los Angeles", "She Needs Rock N Roll", "Sick Love Song", "Sex", "Hell On High Heels" & a few more but overall the bad/uninspired songs far outweigh the few good ones.
Nikki really is half a$$ing it when it comes to songwriting & is relying way too much on James Michael (& others) to write Crue songs for him.
Nikki was really on a roll w/'Generation Swine' he was being original & creative.
I was so excited to hear the follow up to 'Generation Swine' & was extremely let down by the poor mans 'Dr Feelgood' that was 'New Tattoo'.
Nikki has been phoning it in ever since.
I think, and I am being charitable here whereas you were willing to invoke imagined implications in a recent/previous post, than the usual jabs (some of which, granted, I have engaged previously) apply when they are pointed, or on point, or accent a point being made (see comment below).
Is Neil overweight? Sure. Is he a douche? Okay, sure again. Why not talk about his singing, past or present. Your choice. Is Corabi a great singer? I think so, though it isn't the case that you have to choose him _over_ Neil (for any number of reasons) or assign him the status of deity. If he is, he is surely one of the grimiest Gods in rock.
I really think you mistake passionate debate for a dichotomy, and have to assign people to very strict categories ("hater," "fanboy," etc.) so as to hold sway in an arm wrestling match with yourself. You know what? You win. But, by your standards for posting, you also lose.
The really interesting thing would be this: what do you think of the song and/or the video? How does it stack up against past releases, both newer and deeper in the roster? Heck, even Brian is willing to just make a joyous/positive declaration of love and be done with it. No interest in debating the issue, nor any sense that he wants to lead us into a drome where you assume the outcome.
I have never, ever, questioned your dedication to the Crue. I have only questioned how that dedication manifests itself time and again. This new wrinkle? Well, it is still affixed to the same Janus face.
As the Crue say: if you want to live life on your own terms, you gotta' be willin' to crash and burn. That, at least, is a pointed reference to a crash, relevant to my reply (above) and your initial post (also above).
On the other hand, im in total agreement about how lazy theyve become, as a band(which imo is all 4 of their faults, and not just Vince's or Nikki's, as everyone always wants to make out). Bottom line is this, despite the haters or fanboys....they are a legendary band that will go down in history as one of the greatest of their genre. Anyone can debate all they want about that simple fact, but it's not gonna change. They couldve been better or they could've been worse, but at this point for them to still be around playing arenas on a consistent basis, as a Crüehead im very pleased with what they've accomplished in their time. I chose well when choosing my favorite band, back in the 80's!
His chipmunkian woodpecker impression is inimitable!
And I personally, wouldn't have it any other way. I like the way the guy sings. But that doesn't mean I don't recognize his limitations!
And Jackie's right! Those ARE great songs!
p.s. About the 8-Track "Too Fast For Love"... YES! It did come out in 8-Track form, for real. How do I know this? I bought the damn thing 3 times! 1st one melted on the back ledge of my bub's '68 Mustang. 2nd one got lost. 3rd one is in storage with 500 other 8-Tracks including "Shout At The Devil" from '83!
The rest of it? Your sudden quest for logic? Your slippery definition of "fact"? Your two-pronged, and clashing, money argument? We will have to agree to disagree or, at the least, agree that you don't often like to respond in kind to people. Which is a shame really. As fans of the Crue, I would think discussing their merits--past and present, in terms of their music and their personalities--would be interesting. Still, appreciate the reply.
Metalboy!: do you still have a working 8 track player? It would be amazing to see if those 500-plus tapes still work (heck, it would be amazing to get a list of the tapes that you have in your possession). Me? I have just as many cassettes, many of which only play on one side nowadays. But they still get played.
And Jakki, as Metalboy! points out, great post. I should have noted that before launching my dissertation. It was a nice balance from a true fan (even if I peg their decline at the end of the Corabi era and had trouble with GS after hoping that they would merge back into the Primal Scream-era sound that they were hinting at before Neil left). I guess that is all I really want out of fans: perspective. You got it in spades!
Ya gotta watch it! It's on The Tonight Show website.
Ace, et al, who may be in the know, tell me Neil didn't nail it and did they use backing tracks for anything?
I couldn't detect any except maybe the gang-style background vocals and even then, not sure, those chicks plus Sixx and Mars, might have been nailing those, as well!
And, at the conclusion of the performance, note a bit of unintentional spontaneous hilarity when Fallon hugs Neil. Awkward. Or I may be imagining things, you tell me.
p.s. HIM! Appreciate your curiosity regarding the 8-Tracks. It was also interesting to see how some of the other kind Metaloids commented as to whether they still made 8-Tracks when "Too Fast For Love" was released on Elektra. I will explain why I have so many and could have had more in my next post. First, I gotta get to work. Happy Metal Friday!, all those who like to get in the Glam Metal Time Machine and go back (Hey, another meaning to BBG!) in time, even if it's just a post or two, or five, as I've been known to do, to add a comment or two, or better yet, check on any trolls who may be hiding, foolishly thinking they could go hatin' undetected, hahaha!!!
The only decent shout out goes to Mick for continuing to play his a$$ off despite his health issues.

And let me just say, you haven't lived until you've driven a white '76 Caddy Eldorado convertible standing up listening to The Plasmatics first album cranked to 11 on the 8-Track! Well, at least that's what I thought at the time. Glad I lived to tell you about it!
