Rocklahoma 2015 Lineup

Tesla gets a huge headline spot this year. Good to see the Winery Dogs, Lynam and Queensryche too. Looks like a fun Memorial Day party. I'm not really into Linkin Park too much. What do you think?

Lame.

I really like Tesla. MB don't hate 😃

Love Song transports me back to 1989 when it came on the radio/pa at Jc penneys & my boyfriend cuddled with me inside a rack of clothes and serenaded me softly.

Right on two counts, one if but by implication: (1) don't hate MB (though he will, he will); and (2) music is all about memories being made and recalled. That is a fabulous personal memory, Kixchix. Life is made up of those.

I'd like to see this version of Slayer with Bostaph and Holt (both of whom are great musicians), especially if they play some of the new material they have been working on. "Implode" didn't do it for me. MB don't hate (though he will, he will).

After that, it gets pretty thin for me personally, certainly too thin for me to justify the trip as against other, closer, shows. I fear that Aftershock is tilting this way generally (packages of packaged tours that travel across the country and abroad, cobbled together and glued to this or that large entertainment corp.). At least it is closer. So I will wait and vote with my money . . . or not, this year.

I will say it again: I wish I went one of the first couple of years. Will be kicking myself over not going. Ah, retrospect (the mental imagery, not the stage).

Well....the Stage is worth the trip. The Retrospect stage will be crawling with great bands. Sam, of Retrospect, puts together an unbelievable lineup! Check these bands out, we all love glam. Station....simply awesome. Nasty Habit...I've read that they are one break from making it big, and I have no doubts. Black Tora currently is my favorite new band and I cannot listen to them enough! Never Enough! I've ALS heard good things about Mach22 Ratchett Dolls. Finally, Check out Mystery, for they are also becoming very big over across the pond.

Great post, B Lucas. When I was first deciding on going or not going, the Retrospect stage really interested me.

It sent me down the rabbit-hole, reading the pros and cons of Sam and his operation on internet posts. I have no real opinion because it seems that each side had a point and I, ultimately, never got around to seeing it for myself. But you clued me into some bands to check out. So I will. And, again, thanks for doing that.

Glad that it is still there, doing the ground work while the rest of the festival seems to chug along on corp. auto-pilot.

Beyond Halestorm, there's not much here that interests me.

Him, I was there there 07, 08, 09, 11 and 12. The first 2 years were the absolute best! I didn't go last year and won't be going back this year as the lineups aren't what I prefer and some memories are better left alone.

I went to Rock N America in 10 because the lineup at ROK wasn't as strong IMO. RNA was a great show lineup, but a poor venue.

I was there in '07 and '14. I had tix for '08, but sold them on ebay after adopting a boy (6yo) and his sister (11mos) and then finding out that my wife was pregnant ('08) and then pregnant again ('09), so the in-between years, I was busy with diaper duty and had no time or money. I'm not attending this year as the line-up doesn't do it for me, save for some of the acts on the retrospect stage as B Lucas keenly observes.

That being said, I posit that Rocklahoma, as a festival and VIP purchaser, is far superior than any other in the states- the prices are more than fair, the perks (free drinks including beer, free buffet food) are stellar and the entire atmosphere and extra things to do are among the things that make this festival head and shoulders above all others. I wish M3 would take note, which by the way, I "hear" they might be, by making Day 1 of the festival this year much longer with more bands to be added.

But C'mon M3, I luv y'all and such, but charging $850.00 for the "rock star experience" for a f*cking tee shirt, poster and one dinner along with some other measly perks is simply price gouging. side note: I could afford the "experience", but instead, I am taking my sons and a couple buddies who are on hard financial times right now who can't afford to go, because that is money much better spent. IMHO

Although i really like LP, the great & almighty Slayer, Godsmack, Tesla, Volbeat, Queensryche, Anthrax, Papa Roach, & Ministry, none of the rest interest me. Waaay too many unknowns, imho. Volbeat & Ministry are the only 2 outta those mentioned, that ive never seen. Needless to say i wont be attending.

I agree that $850 for the M3 VIP experience is absolutely crackers. I suppose it will sell out (or already has) but I sure don't know anyone who plunked down that kind of cash for M3.

Surprise, Surprise! They booked the "almighty" TeslUGH! When will this band and all the promotors, including all who still laud them, finally figure out the gig is up.

The rest of it I'd just as soon skip as it's just as boring as TeslUGH!, save for where the action -- what little there is -- starts, finally, on line 7, with Red Dragon Cartel, who I saw twice on The Monsters of Rock Cruise.

The next one I would really want to see is Bai Bang. And I'm with ya on catching all the bands on the Retrospect stage. I saw Station at the M-Pre Party a few years back and they kicked a*s royale!

Agree with you, Rokken. RnA was a great festival . . . that suffered from poor planning.

The venue was okay to me, aside from placing the food vendors (well, most of them) and cooling tent up the hill and out the main gates.

A shame too, I hoped they would bring it back. I thought it was a pretty solid lineup overall.

T-E-S-I-A, you say, Jack? Looks like YOU can't remember them either or show them the respect you supposedly have for these bozos to at least to at least spell their name right.

Good thing you're not a Tattoo artist.

Great bands and a lot of crap. So many festivals. Papa roach, Slayer, Linkin Park, Tesla, Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, Godsmack are great. Im not fond of anything else here. Long live rock n roll!!!

Well, at least you got 2 bands right, when calling it Great Rock & Roll... Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless.

The rest are meant for UNROCKLACOMA!

It is a great venue and a great time. Not sure why they veered away from the original concept, but this is as far from the first few years as they've been. Was planning to go this year with our crew, but not worth it. Why not keep the original concept and bring in some of the new blood. Also, where are your Lynch/Sweet, Billy Idol, Cheap Trick, Joan Jett, hell even Pat Benatar fused with the 80's standards and Hardcore Superstar, Crazy Lixx, Crashdiet, etc

I'd like to see Bai Bang and Red Dragon but not much more. I still wonder if this is more profitable for them? The five years I went, there were plenty of people. It simply rocked.

This doesn't rock. Change the name for this festival and bring back ROCKlahoma. ROR at least has Priest and Manson. With Motley and AC DC out there and VH being idle, I question did you dig deep enough or simply let someone else 'plan' this. Too bad - M3 here we come for some down and dirty Rhino Bucket (Beat to Death Like a Dog / Been There Done That anyone?)
