KIX, Dokken (if only Don could sing again), Europe (for the whole comedy act aspect of it), Krokus (more comedy), L.A. Guns, Vixen, Black & Blue and Killer Dwarfs are the only reasons to possibly attend.
So, as usual, when it comes to M3, they need more reasons and Hardcore Superstar, as Ripper suggests, would be a good start, though a long shot, considering the limited scope under which the M3 Promoters & Booking Agents apparently operate.
but I was coming down to post re: her tom keifer solo synopsis and post about catering to soccer moms and beginning with: "on the contrary.................from your loveable contraion.
but the aforementioned M3 line up screams what mb wrote.
thank goodness that we have something great to look forward
Rumor is they were actually in negotiation with Poison but, knowing that, they'll probably see if they can sell enough tickets without having to bite the bullet and get a band on the level of Poison.
However, if they do actually decide to get 'em, that would pretty much guarantee my attendance, for sure!
Sure, Judas Priest are legends. They've been around for 40 years. But their heyday has long come and gone. They can headline (small) arenas in some US cities, but they're best suited to theaters now. Their new releases don't sell a million copies anymore...not even close to half a mil. Their latest album sold 32K copies in the US the first week.
Slipknot has been around for 15 years. They're currently one of the biggest rock bands going. They headline arenas, amphitheaters and major rock festivals all over the world. Their latest album sold 123K copies in the US the first week and debuted at #1 in multiple countries.
So, the fact that they're billed over Priest is based on simply on their popularity and draw in 2014/15. Whether or not you like them has no bearing on this. Neither does the fact that you think they're legends. Priest is undoubtedly more popular internationally than in the States, but they're just not on the same level as Slipknot. I've been a fan of music for as long as Priest has been "known" worldwide and even in their 80's heyday, they were never as popular worldwide as Slipknot. Priest has released 28 albums (studio, live and comps) and have sold roughly 50 million copies. Slipknot has sold 20 million albums on 7 releases. To quote Dan Spitz..."Do the math." I'd also like to add that Slipknot's per show guarantee makes Priest's look like chump change.
So Metalboy!, go on back to dream land, where Hardcore Superstar headlines M3 and all the "cool" rockstars (obviously not Slipknot) buy you drinks on a rock cruise. Woooooo!
I never said Hardcore Superstar should headline M3. What I basically said was is it would be cool if they were on the bill.
Beyond the numbers, I think my point was, and this is "Comments", which I also take to mean "opinions", Judas Priest is the better band. I get the whole thing about the numbers driving the layout of a bill, though I contend Judas Priest has better name recognition.
I will say this... Though Slipknot does absolutely nothing for me, I have newfound respect for Corey Taylor for putting Cheap Trick at the top of his "Dream Bill" for Coachella. Now THAT'S Real Rock & Roll right there, son!
