I am going, but I not think it will sell well. The year Bret Michaels headlined, it was half filled and people were pouring out during his set. He also plays clubs on his own.
Ahahaha!!! Buh-bye TeslUGH! The beginning of the end!
Page (not Paige, fool), Plant, Tyler and Perry have no idea who TeslUGH! are, either!
And adding more hacks like TeslUGH! wouldn't change any of that. Bring in the big boys or face empty seats and a procession of people making even more!
See you there along with Kenny O!
Yeah, they're consistent, alright, Mike!...
THE most CONSISTENTLY BORING bands of all time!
You want Rock & Roll?...
Dirty Looks, "Cool To The Wire"
Love/Hate, "Black Out In A Red Room"
KIX, "Blow My Fuse"
Pretty Boy Floyd, "Leather Boyz With Electric Toys"
Accept, "Metal Heart"
Roxxy Gang, "Things You've Never Done Before"
Riot, "The Privelege Of Power"
Just one song off any of these albums blows away the entire catalog of TeslUGH!
First, some of these aren't glam bands. That matters to some people on this site. So step cautiously . . . things could get dicey.
Second, did you wake up on the wrong side of 2015, Metalboy!? Y&T serve up music that is more consistent live than half of these bands and have been doing it for about as long if not longer. Now please don't suggest they are AOR or Tesla-like. So what is the beef? With Meniketti's guitar playing? I would think, though not a Strip (or a glam) band, that you could appreciate them as one of the few that should have made it and didn't. It feels like a year or so ago, where you were tilting at windmills like Don Quixote in a leather thong.
One final comment:
This is, as others suggest, a pretty weak line-up overall, without any major anchors (beyond regional or nostalgia stretches of the imagination). Some great bands, some iffy line-ups, etc.
The Vixens sum up the problem: this is a Brown- and Kitaen-level line-up, with Trunk (who I defend) only stopping by to pick up his paycheck.
I won't say I predicted this sort of thing starting to happen because I didn't. But expect more of it, for more reason than are worth listing here (and/or were posted earlier).
Dirty Looks, "Cool To The Wire"
- own the LP, love it, this album never leaves my iphone.
Love/Hate, "Black Out In A Red Room"
- I own it, great album. Wasted in America, Let's Rumble, I'm Not Happy, all solid albums as well.
KIX, "Blow My Fuse"
- own it on 3 formats, love this album, I may like "Midnite Dynamite" a touch more though.
Pretty Boy Floyd, "Leather Boyz With Electric Toys"
- I own it. loved this back in the day, does not hold up in 2015. They SUCKED live.
Accept, "Metal Heart"
- not their best work, but I really dig Accept.
Roxxy Gang, "Things You've Never Done Before"
- own the LP, CD and cassette, plus the "Scratch My Back" 7". Loved it back in the day, don't pull it out too it often these days.
Riot, "The Privelege Of Power"
- Not familiar with this album, I will check it out
My honest opinion : Tesla "Great Radio Controversy" still better album than all of the above, plus they have a stronger overall catalog than any of these bands.
... And they always kill it live, not sure which band you are watching that is so 'boring'?
What I don't get is how a guitar player's disposition (one isolated incident, see from a fan's perspective) translates into the entire band being 'hacks' or a 'boring' act with no draw...
BTW, I own all the Y&T sh*t including Yesterday & Today LO's, no less... and all of the stuff bores me to tears now and pretty much bored me then... Edgeless and formulaic, lacking completely any sense of cleverness, irony, wit or humor and barely any attitude or consistency. Talk about not holding up.
FYI... Here's what's on my iTunes playlists regarding the two bands in question...
TeslUGH!:
Comin' Atcha Live
Rock Me To The Top
Lazy Days, Crazy Nights
Rock The Nation
Hang Tough
Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)
Love Song
The Way It Is
EZ Come EZ Go
Modern Day Cowboy
Little Suzi
Y&T:
Black Tiger
Lipstick and Leather
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
Contagious (Their best Pop/Hair Metal ditty... There is a humorous self-deprecating line in here... See if you can find it)
L.A. Rocks
Temptation
Summertime Girls
Rock & Roll's Gonna Save The World
Don't Stop Runnin'
(Your Love Is) Drivin' Me Crazy
City
Rescue Me
Love Gone Wrong
Go For The Throat
My disdain for Hannon and Keith is unrelated from my general feeling that these AOR Pop Metallists (not a bad categorization for some of the guilty pleasure cheeze I occasionally indulge in) are in bands I find pretty boring...
It's several incidents I witnessed, two of which stand out, which demonstrate self importance disproportional to each of their current staff in life...
Hannon in the sushi restaurant on the first Shiprocked! (before it became Sh*ts*cks!) speaks in a condescending tone toward the maitré d... "I need to be moved now! I need to be seated at a more private table than where I'm seated because I'm a musician and I don't want people to see me."
First, who gives a f*ck who the hell you are, ya fat f*ck, and second, why can't you just say, "Sir, if you don't mind, may my wife and I be moved to another table as we would like more privacy", instead of attempting to acquire some form of priority treatment because he's a "Rockstar"!
Both Dana Strum and I noticed this and found it laughable when we were fooling around acting like waiters to Vince Neil, while at the same time, actually helping the maitré d who was overwhelmed by the crowd. And I realize Neil is no prince, either, not by a long shot, but he could care less about where the h*ll he sits, or didn't that night.
Now, I think Jeff Keith is one bad a*s singer and it really became apparent when Keifer couldn't make it on The Monsters of Rock Cruise two years ago and Cinderella went on as Cinderella & Friends, which wound up being one of the highlights of the cruise. It was Keith who was the first singer on stage, belting out "Highway To Hell" at the top of his lungs.
It actually lead me to compliment him about it and he actually laughed and thanked me when I told him that he should quit TeslUGH! and form his own band in order to Rock out at a higher level like that.
Unfortunately, two years later, on the last MORC, he arrived late to watch Faster Pussycat in one of the lounges with two security guards who told two people to move out of the way so he could stand more freely and with an unobstructed view, then ignored the scene as it began unravelling when the security guards had words with those they had removed. C'mon, man!
As far as I'm concerned these two dicks should be made to walk the plank, again, not for their mediocre music, but for their over confabulated sense of supremacy over the "fans".
These bozos are washed up relics and should be just a tad more humble during their last days spent in the rapidly fading spotlight.
And, as far as your Eddie Chump goes, HIM, he's another sadly misinformed know-it-all who is completely clueless when it comes to Metal, his opinions and facts almost always so wrong, wrong, wrong.
Jack T... Hey, at least we agree on Dirty Looks. I saw 'em twice at the Cat Club in NYC back in the day. BADA*S exemplified!
One of the highlights on MORC two years ago was unintentionally almost tripping Meniketti when I was running after some chicks. I stopped, ran back to make sure he was all right, apologized and got back to the chase. Later, I watched Y&T perform "Black Tiger" in the main theatre on the ship. That theatre seats around 1,000+. There were 50 people watching. Now granted, it was late. Also, I never said Meniketti and his band aren't nice. Just boring. Yeah, that's it... Nice AND Boring.
NEXT!!!...
\m/
p.s. It's Roxx Gang, dang autocorrect. Saw 'em twice at The Cat Club in NYC. Stunning performances! Now they were Rock & Roll! And, yes, Glam METAL! And, yeah, Mike (and all who haven't heard it), ya gotta check out RIOT, "Privelege of Power", the last great Metal album ever made! Never been topped since and it was made in '93, hahaha!!!
And I appreciate the explanation of your disdain, Metalboy! A touch of irony in it that, I think, sometimes gets lost in posts like these (it has happened to me on occasion).
One thing though: I fully well admit that Trunk is into self-promotion, to a degree that can be somewhat cloying. But I think he really is a fan, I think he has opinions that are based in how he truly feels about bands and the music, and I don't think he does anything to detract from keeping metal out there . . . and bringing in new fans to older metal. So calling him misinformed is a bit out there.
But, again, thanks for the clarification. It helped me figure out your angle on Tesla a bit more.
