The New Trixter Album Honestly Sounds Epic

Have you checked out the Trixter EPK for their new album Human Era? Some of the songs from the album are sampled in the video press kit and the tracks sound awesome. Like, honestly it's so good. This is a day 1 buy for me for sure. What do you think?

Absolutely not. This band has never had any appeal to me and their live performance at M3 a few years back ranks as one of the worst things I have ever heard.

these guys have gotten so much better with age. I'll plunk down some money for my boys from Jersey!

I've never heard the words "epic" and "Trixter" used in the same sentence. Just not a fan of these guys in any way, shape or form.

These guys are REALLY good. But, Chris is correct, their performance at M3 a couple years ago was an abortion. They were drunk and sloppy. When they are on, though, they are MAGIC. Seriously, everybody go see these guys if they come close to you!

I'm with Krukewitt, more or less, in the final analysis, though I also saw that M3 show and was actually impressed with the professionalism of their performance.

Honestly, though, after watching this, my sense is it's not nearly as good as their stuff that was released not long after said M3 performance. That stuff was much harder and way less candyas*ed than what is featured in this post.

So what's with this saccharine slop they are now trying to foist on us?

I'm gonna call it a Frontiers Records job. That's right... I'm starting to see a pattern of sameness in the output of the bands signed to this label, with the exception of maybe KIX. Most of the rest of them are just chasing some sort of misguided sense of achievement to be The Best 80's AOR Cheese available!

Maybe they're trying to give Europe a run for their money but, alas, Trixter lack the unintentional comedy and bombast of those cheesmeisters.

AND personally, I really could do without all the navel inspection of their little mutual admiration society compounded by each individual's self admiration.

In other words, "Gimme a break."

p.s. Welcome, Christopher! Great to hear someone comment who's Bullsh*t-O-Meter is so well calibrated!

Sorry for the cheap shot, Kenny O.

You and I are usually in agreement or civil in our disagreement. Are we sure we're talkin' the same Trixter performance?

When I saw them several years ago on the Main Stage at M3 (not the one when I met you, Kenny O... This was with Scorps & Cinderella headlining). I'm thinkin' it was before Jetboy (who were totally killer, BTW).

I maneuvered down front really wanting to heckle these guys and I was more than pleasantly surprised. I mean, I went down there to hate on 'em and was totally blown away, for REAL!!!... Not because of their songs, which are pretty mediocre except for that brief moment in the months to come after that M3 performance.

So, dudes, especially Kenny O... Let me know if that was the same show for obvious reasons, hahaha!!!

Final Comment: Bourgois 80's Semi-Hard Rock for Bourgeois Semi-Hard Rockers.

ive never seen trixter but woould love to if they come around. i like the sound of this cd reminds of there early stuff which is great. i hate when bands try to reinvent there sound and alienate there core fans and the the youth of today couldnt give a shit about them, play to your fans, im there.

mb: that! is some of thee funniest sh*t you've ever dared to post. kudos to you. it would've been funnier (perhaps), if I read it when you first posted it. Instead, I had to press the "what'd she post" button.

I liked some of New Audio Machine, and some on here sound decent. Never seen them live either. Frontiers has released a lot of bad stuff, but they're also released A LOT of really good records as well, and I know I'm gonna get A LOT of hate here, especially with Alyson being a HUGE Kix fan, but I bought their last one, and I don't understand the love it gets. There, I said it. Don't be too harsh.

The last KIX album is on Loud & Proud Records, NOT Frontiers. Loud & Proud is operated by Tom Lipsky, who used to head the CMC International and Sanctuary labels.

All that aside, I'm looking forward to the new Trixter. This is one of our beloved 80s/90s hard rock bands who can still deliver BOTH live and on record.

Glad they're going to be in my neck of the woods this summer with Dokken and Firehouse...though I'd prefer a Trixter headlining gig!

Great info, Jason, except Hickster as a headliner, haha!!

That said, it was the "New Audio Machine" album I was referring to, thank you very much, Mike. THAT album was truly a pleasant surprise when it debuted and is head and shoulders above this latest candy as*sed crap, "Human Era".

With "Human Era" and the goofball video above, these guys really do give TeslUGH! a run for their money in the "Stupid Metal" department!
