Living Colour Is Touring With Aerosmith

Is it me, or is it an odd pairing that Living Colour is going out on the road as support for Aerosmith's Blue Army tour this summer? I mean, they are a killer band, it just seems... odd. Regardless, I'd see the show if it was coming by me, but it's not. Tickets are pricey high, so it will be interesting to see how it sells. Happy Friday and have fun and be careful if you're headed out to M3 this weekend!

Living Colour (despite the day-glo spandex) are so under-rated. They will likely slay Aerosmith LLC or make them step it up a touch.

Don't misunderstand: A has a catalog to die for and has a live show that still makes contemporaries (and younger bands they inspired) envious. But LC operates below the radar and, unlike some choices some prestige acts have made as of late (Kool and the Gang anyone?), has the stuff to make for a fun opening act while being roughly in the same ballpark musically. If I were to guess, choosing LC comes down to cost and an assumption of safety. I think the first is smart; I think the second is not.

Still . . . at this price point and with the fans that come with it, they will likely only be clapping for "Cult" and then twizzle-sticking their top-shelf drinks. Bathroom breaks? Nah. That is what TENA is for! Who wants to mix with the proles when you can stay put, get lit, and let loose (in a variety of ways)?

To both bands: let the music do the talking.

To the fans: consider what you are paying for and then enjoy the show.

I second Allyson's comment: enjoy M3 and show people what a good time can do in a tragic time.

I saw LC back in Feb at a small club in VA for $30...they were simply amazing and played for almost 2 hours - i missed them back in their heyday, but i saw Corey and Vernon in the Hendrix Exp show a few years ago.

As for Aerosmith - i was a huge fan from when i first saw them in 78 - but i'm not shelling out that kinda money anymore - F em.

Both are great bands. Not an odd bill at all. Aersomith seems to ALWAYS bring good openers, too. Which is refreshing.
