Get Ready: Geoff Tate Is Back

Former Queensryche frontman Geoff Tate and his new band called Operation: Mindcrime is about to release The Key. The debut will come out September 18 via Frontiers.

Kelly Gray joins Geoff in the band, cementing that post Queensryche bond. Also in the band are John Moyer, Simon Wright, Brian Tichy, Randy Gane and Scott Moughton. Wright and Tichy are both drummers, so that's interesting for sure. Also, can we please talk about Geoff's hair in the photo below? Good grief! Here's a sample of The Key.

Sure, lets talk about the hair since the music sounds like Rage For Order gone bad.

If you can still grow hair on the top of your freaking head, why would you be shaving? I could only pull off the Gallagher or captain Stubing look. That's why I shave my head now. It pisses me off that people that could still grow their hair shave it. Do you not realize what a gift that is? Man, I hung on to mine as long as I could, but when it's time, it's time.

Haha!!, Cheap Seats. If you'll recall, Tate has a receding hairline both on his forehead and frontal lobes.

He's showing his ingenuity and creativity here. Mr. T meets a young Mitch Miller.

Too bad his wife Yoko'd the situation when she managed the original band. I wonder if the Afrohawk is her idea?

@ Cheap Seats great comment! Drives me nuts to see these kids shave their heads. If I could grow it like the glory days it would be to my AZZ....Tate looks like a concierge in an upscale Asian hotel...

What a douche. Interesting how he a) has incorporated the Queensryche sign into a "new" sign for his band and b) refused to write traditional Q songs in the 2nd half of his Q career but, in his new band, is attempting (unsuccessfully) to write traditional type Q songs. Like I said, what a douche.

Good to see that my buddy Rudy Sarzo & his brother have both bailed on Geoff & his vest.
Now I don't have to ever think about him ever again. I hope this dies a foul & expensive death for Geoff.

This guy out-douches the very best.if his talent matched his opinion of himself,he'd be Robert freaking Plant. But it doesn't,nor will it ever.So we're left with a pretentious schmuck bleeding off his former fame while pretending that he wants nothing to do with said former band.

He's so full of himself. He should start a Smashing Pumpkins cover band...I'll just listen to old Queensryche here and there.
