SIXX: A.M. Announce New Drummer
Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 12:01AM
SIXX A.M. have hired a new, permanent drummer. Dustin Steinke got the job. He's also the drummer for BLEEKER RIDGE. Steinke will drum on the new SIXX A.M. album which is due out later this year. I guess we'll see him when the band hits the road this summer too!

My only hope is that we get more of the latter and less of the former. And please, please, please, please . . . news that the movie is going to be canned. Nothing good will come from a movie version of The Dirt. Nothing. Save this: who should play each of the band members?
You start . . .
Nikki Sixx -- James Franco
Vince Neil -- Amy Schumer
Mick Mars -- Adam Driver
Tommy Lee -- Christian Bale
p.s. You are also correct in your anticipation of the Mars and Corabi collaboration bearing fruit -- Can't wait to hear it. And alluding to the fact that vanity project SIXX:A.M. is a complete and utter yawner.
Back to Sixx AM - waiting for that wow tune, or that song you just cant' get out of your head, etc... I don't ever see that happening.
Brace yourself, GNR, but you just hit on a good idea... It's not Crüe who Steel Panther should play, however... Steel Panther should play,... well, Steel Panther! How great would THAT be?
I just cringe when I think about the movie. I think that there are more possible ways that it will sully, rather than support, that legacy. Things of this sort don't tend to go well. They are either awful hagiographies filtered through the soft glow of nonsense or revisionist twaddle like the recent NWA bio-pic.
I place _The Dirt_ in a small category of (auto-)biographies that read more like fiction rather than truth (note I said _read like_, not _is_). Another one? _Hammer of the Gods_. In both cases, I feel like the attempts at a film treatment would be akin to a film version of, say, King's _The Stand_ (the television version was dreadful) or Pynchon's _Gravity's Rainbow_. In both those literary cases, the visuals you see in your head simply can't be matched by what they would transfer to celluloid (or what have you).
Floyd's _The Wall_ was a pretty good counter-example, even if it was lyrics-and-music-to-film. And Kubrick's translation of King in _The Shining_ was good because you had a loony master behind the wheel, adapting and poking and changing as his tastes suited him. Who is behind the wheel of _The Dirt_ right now? The director of _Bad Grandpa_ and _Jackass_ and one of the writers of _xXx_?!!? Love me some sight-gags and some breezy action films. But, really? Does that make you think this will turn out well?
In other news, I will try my hand at casting the darn thing (and I am just having a bit of fun):
Neil: hologram (younger); Amy Schumer or John Lovitz (older)
Lee: Adam Driver
Mars: Steve Buscemi
Sixx: Liza Minnelli
My hope? That the DVD of the final show(s) is well-received, that the planned box-set is worth the money, and that some great rarities are released sometime down the road.
JONAH HILL as Vince.
CHRISTIAN BALE as Tommy
NICOLAS CAGE as Sixx
CHRISTOPHER WALKEN as Mick
Now THAT I'd go see. *as an extra treat... RUSSELL BRAND, as Nikki's buddy STEPHEN PEARCY of RATT
We've also both got Adam Driver either to play Lee or Mars but Liza Minelli as Nikki? Hahaha!!!
Ace, I actually thought of Jonah Hill, initially, as well to play Vince Neil but figured Schumer could pull it off as both the younger Neil and with some extra padding (though she wouldn't need much) to play him in his later years. And very funny (and inspired) to get Christopher Walken to play Mars.
Also, nice to see we both selected Christian Bale to play Tommy Lee.
A special Kudos to HIM for a truly inspired idea of casting "The Dirt". Great fun! I hope more will play.
p.s. Whoa, Ace... I didn't know Pearcy was Nikki's wingman?
Christian Bale, the method actor; Tommy Lee, Methods of Mayhem. I guess there is some cosmic confluence going on.
And I never imagined that Pearcy and Sixx would hang out either, Ace. Do tell . . . or were you pulling our chains?
I agree: let's hear some more pairings.
Mind you, I like most of what Nikki does, with the 58 album still being my favourite project of his outside CRÜE.
I had really high hopes for Brides Of Destruction back when that was in the early stages (big Tracii Guns fan here) but that album really fell flat.
I am really stoked on this Mars / Corabi project. I really hope when they go looking for a rhythm section they call Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee hahahaha (we can dream)... They could pull a Sabbath / Dio, and call it HOOLIGANS HOLIDAY.
