So This Happened (Sebastian Bach Style)
Remember the other day when I posted that Tony Harnell was out as the lead singer of Skid Row? And how I also posted that the timing was curious and that a reunion with Sebastian Bach makes sense... especially in light of the Guns n' Roses reunion announcement? Notice how GnR hasn't announced their reunion tour dates yet, just their one Coachella show? Now Sebastian Bach is tweeting about how he would like to bury the hatchet with the Skids... after all these years. Things that make you go hmmm. And money talks. And I can see Skid Row touring with Guns n' Roses. Just saying.'
Only way a Skid Row Reunion could happen is if we somehow tried2 bury a 20 year hatchet between us. Would love the chance to do so #SitDown

To be honest, I have said some super shitty things 2 them. & about them. I would like to apologize for shooting my mouth off @iLikeSamiZayn

Now I would like to turn the mike over to our good friend Metalboy! . . .
Seriously, though, I have a question Ace: is it all three that are opposed to Bach being back? Or is it mainly one of them? I hear mixed answers to that question. Your take?
And didn't Affuso try to broker a truce at some point? I recall hearing that.
Regardless, their decision to wander the Earth in little venues suggests an intransigence that is either to be admired or to be scoffed at. While they will never reach the heights again (with or without Bach), it ranks up there with a select few other bands that sacrifice a higher (even if slightly) level of visibility on the basis of principle.
I would love to see it happen in all honesty. its Time!!!
Sorry is the easiest thing to say in the world, but do you mean it ? Or once your reunion cash grab happens, do you go hating again on what got you there in the first place ?
Them opening for GNR would be awesome. Makes my $200 ticket just that tad sweeter :)
That being said, I also don't see this happening, they hate him, and probably are financially sound from having written all those hit songs.
Glad I got to see SKID ROW back in the day, they were a great band.
Ahem... Ahem... Testing... Check, One, Two, One Two... Is this thing on?
Great comments, all, IMHO!
IMHO! That's laffable coming from me!...
Okay, here goes... First of all, Bach would have been much better off initially handling this by reaching out personally to whoever would be most likely to at least receive his olive branch on the other side, not necessarily accept it, just listen to Bach, rather than Bach floating it out there on social media, hoping to stir up support and somehow sway the band that way.
Slash or Axl didn't float it out there on social media first... My guess is LiveNation brokered the deal, those guys talked and now see the potential.
Regardless, BK, brace yourself, I'm actually with you on this one... Skid Row really isn't sh*t without Bach... Musically, his albums are WAY better than theirs... They would be stupid not to risk it all and take a chance on him... He can still sing his a*s off and without his voice, Skid Row doesn't click.
Yes, it's worked in the past -- AC/DC, the best example, but without Bach, Skid Row is really just a less successful Journey, nothing special without the original magic formula of the classic line-up.
Again, nobody thought it could happen yet it did with Slash and Axl. Though you don't have someone facilitating the healing like LiveNation dangling the promise of millions in front of all parties, I do believe, Skid Row would still make millions. Though not on the level we're talking about for G'n'R, they would still make them.
One way to do it would be to make a reality show out of it, a la that Velvet Revolver thing with Weiland or the Supergroup show with Bach all drunk, getting cray-cray on Ted Nugent, Jason Bonham and that Unibrow f*ck, whatever his name is, oh yeah, Scott Peeon. Trust me that guy's a weenis. I met him a couple of times and he IS super annoying! Way more than Bach!
So, I could actually see happening what Allyson could be for telling with a reunionized Skid Row opening for Guns n' Roses. And who could broker that? Bach, because he and Axl are buds, surprise, surprise.
Final analysis... Yeah, Bach has an outsized ego disproportional to his current position in life... But so do those d*cks in Skid Row... Especially if they think they're bigger than Bach and even if they did write the songs as Ace points out. Sorry man, don't tell them, but they really are his back up band... So, they should just s*ck it up and make a buck and a half (that's NYC talk for a mil and a half) a piece over the next couple of years with Bach.
p.s. Early indicators that Skid Row is in actuality Bach's back-up band, as Ace alludes Bach wants to treat them, were revealed when Rolling Stone did a cover story on Skid Row way back in September of 1991, yet featured only Bach on the cover.
p.s. And a special shout out to Glamprincess Kari! Where the h*ll you been, Rocket Queen?!
Seriously, though, some great comments across the spectrum here.
I tend to agree with you Kenny. Let me ask though: what is your take on how "the other guys in Poison" have been treated? Or how Blotz has taken the name of Ratt and slapped it on his "experience"? Granted, those two situation are vastly different. But they frame a general pattern that is going on with a lot of the bands from back in the day (I could have mentioned Guns [LA or Roses], or Ryche, or Great White. . . well, you get it). There is a prestige member that most recognize as being integral (even if they aren't), and so the shows and the money go.
The reverse is also true: not sure many non-die hard fans really care for the differences so long as the songs they "know" are belted out. They aren't wondering about Bolan, or DeMartini, or Wilton, or Kendall. What they know is the name of the band. Which, again, only complicates things when the band name is tied so closely to a Bach, Michaels, or Pearcy.
Others, in particular, those you've mentioned above, have become what Kari kindly refers to as "scab" bands, the most glaringly ridiculous of them all being Quiet Riot, though they get a tad of legitimacy retaining Jizzy Pearl, though he's not an original member.
And even though Michaels rakes in all the cash leaving the rest of Poison high and dry, he's nothing without them, coming off like a Pro Wrestler on his last legs. At least he's come to his senses, albeit, temporarily, since raising the possibility of a Summer tour with Poison.
Of all of them, it's probably Tom Keifer who's fared best without his original band though he's still not as good without them. Bringing it back to Skid Row, as most here agree and, as Mike points out, Rachel and Snake may receive royalties from their hits, but they are from "royalty", essentially nobodies without Bach.
Skid Row apparently has wasted no time, though is wasting time bringing in the Dragonforce dude according to Jeff and BK. I still believe, if the right deal is struck, you can k*ss him goodbye and see Bach back on stage, restoring original "lustre" to the once mighty Skid Row.
C'mon boyz, if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em!
