Accept: 'Restless and Live' Trailer

Accept will release a new DVD package called Restless and Live on January 13. The DVD will include the entire show from the 2015 "Bang Your Head" festival in Balingen, Germany. There is also a CD component to this package. A clip of the DVD is below. The package will come out via Nuclear Blast.

I've never seen Accept live, so this will suffice as a second-best alternative.

Damn! My fellow Jersey boy, Mark Tornillo, sounds amazing in this clip. He still can rip at 62. When I think of the countless times I saw him back in the day with TT Quick, or Big Richard, or jumping on stage with Edgar cayce to sing some sabbath; I am so thrilled that he finally made the big time.

Amen Bob. He fits Accept like a glove. He injected new life into the band,IMO, as these guys have been kicking more ass than a pissed off ninja since the release of Blood Of The Nations back at in 2010. Wolf Hoffman is one of the most underrated axe men on the planet. Guy just plain rips. Love this.

Seen (and met) them twice. I have an Udo meet and greet ticket for Dallas but I can't go, if anyone is interested

I saw these guys in 1993 off "Objection Overuled" at Hammerjack's in Baltimore with UDO and in 2010 off "Blood of Nations" at Firestone in Orlando with Tornillo, both times at Point Blank range as I was positioned right up against the stage on Hoffman's side.

Bob, you are so right about Hoffman who is classically trained, as most of you know. Not only is he criminally underrated, but he is my favorite Metal guitarist. AND "Metal Heart", my favorite Metal album!

Christian, I was also fortunate to meet them. It was before the 2010 show. Since they didn't play my favorite Accept song, "Midnight Mover" at the Hammerjack's show in '92, I asked Hoffmann if they would play it. He turned to Tornillo, who was seated next to him at the autograph table during the VIP Meet & Greet, and asked him. Tornillo said yes, and sure enough, they played it halfway through the set, one of the greatest moments of my Metal Life!

p.s. Christian! There you are! Where ya been, boy?!

I feel you, Christian... I gotta say, UDO has put out some k*ck a*s U.D.O. albums since his departure from Accept. I own several of his solo CDs.

As great as Accept has been since UDO's departure, first with David Reice and then with Mark Tornillo, it doesn't appear the band will never exceed the success they achieved with him.

As it turns out, UDO is going to play Tampa under the Dirkschneider (in chrome letters!) moniker on January 30th where he has promised to play many a popular Accept song, and I quote, "for the last time"!

I will be there, thanks to your tip, Christian!

Yeah, that's the tour I really wanted to see. How can Accept be as big again? They were not huge enough and now they are 'dad rock'. That's just not something you can ask for.

Hey Christian I will be there too in Dallas. Sorry you can't go.

Do you have meet and greet? You can have mine, if it turns out I'm not coming (which seems certain).

A little late career success is certainly better than none at all. Glad to see both Udo and Accept doing well for all those interested. But, boy oh boy, clearly some bad blood between the two camps.

Thanks Christian but I already have Meet & Greet tickets. I do appreciate the gesture though,

Yeah, I saw Udo saying that Mark sings 'without emotion' and wasn't the real thing. They hate each other?

You do? Maybe I could get you to at least pick up the merch for me? I have a Dallas address it could be sent to, I could pay you for that.....

Really, Christian? Dad Rock?

Granted, it was 2010, so they all may be Dads now, haha!!, but the sold out audience surrounding me at Firestone in Orlando was somewhat Millennial but mostly on the younger side, like mid to early 20's.

In fact, aside from Tornillo, I'm pretty sure I was the oldest person there with the band the only others close behind.

Though your theory makes sense in that Accept had their first big hit in 1985 with "Balls To The Wall", therefore rendering any dudes banging their heads to that in their teens now to be of a Dad's age.

And, though they may not be as big as they used to be, I personally never measure a band's bigness in terms of album sales and how many hits they have. For me, it's all about how big their sound is. And for me, there's none bigger than Accept.

I've gone to many a Metal show in Orlando and throughout Florida since and have not noticed the audience to fall into the category you ascribe to Accept.

So, call them "Dad Rock" all you want, just don't tell the kids who make up the crowd that.
November 29, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
I'm 47 damn years old. My eldest is 20. Yes, bands I grew up with, their main demographic is dads. Sure, I see tons of kids in the crowds, too. But while they might sell out small venues, and metal kids will follow their dads in to the pit, the fact they are so old is a major impediment to them having huge sales or selling out arenas, that's just true.

There's 20 year olds I know well from being at the barrier with them often. I didn't say kids are not getting in to metal. :)

Again, success should not be measured by sales but by greatness of the music.

And, I assure you, the kids surrounding me in front of the stage when I saw Accept, did not come with their parents.

METAL is Metal, age defying and almighty. It is NOT "Dad Rock"!

The METAL GODZ have spoken. \m/

'Dad Rock' is a comment on their core demographic and indeed the obstacle they have to overcome to find younger listeners. It's not a judgement on quality.

So, do Moms and their daughters go to see Bon Jovi then? I just want to make sure I understand the parameters of these distinctions.

I won't even ask about "Cousin Rock" (Black Oak Arkansas?) or "Grandfather Rock" (Black Oak Arkansas [again]?). Come to think about it, those last two might be family-tree sorta' intersections.

Besides, both Udo and Tornillo look like Uncles from different sides of the family. One doesn't like to talk about "the war"; the other never removes his hat!

Exactly, HIM! Christian, call 'em whatever you want.

When I was standing in line to see them at Firestone I did not see any Dads. Only young people. And after the show, waiting for Hoffman to come out to climb in the SUV out of there, it was young people waiting for an autograph, again no Dad's to n sight.

I think you're just projecting yourself as the demographic. I actually think Accepts demographic is universally ALL FANS OF METAL! Another reason why they defy your classification probably has more to do with the popularity of "Balls to the Wall" appearing on video games and Guitar Hero, etc. as well as consistent rotation on Hair Nation.

THE METAL GODZ HAVE SPOKEN!
