Have We Been RickRolled?

I don't know if this counts as a true RickRoll or not, but Rick Astley just did a concert in L.A. at The Troubadour and he did a cover of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell." The guy is a killer musician and the cover isn't bad. I never thought I'd have a post about Rick Astley here, but hell, why not? We're sure living in interesting times. Enjoy your Sunday.

Now here's the performance of "Never Gonna Give You Up" from that same show, just for fun. And if you listen really close at the beginning of the clip, you can hear someone scream "RickRolled!"

Nice to see the ol' Troub has upgraded the lighting rig since the days when I played there.

I honestly thought Astley was still bigger than playing the 400 capacity Troub.

*Trivia: Ever watch "Bar Rescue"? The host John Taffer used to be "Big John" the bouncer at the Troubadour, back in the early 80's.

very cool..but why was the video/audio out of sync?? Nice trivia Ace, never knew that and so use to seeing a brick wall behind every performer..maybe the lighting rig was brought in for this show

Rick Astley is actually a talented dude. He still has a pretty wide range. Not really my thing, but can still appreciate/envy the talent.

Rick Astley seems to have a pretty grounded opinion of himself which is very refreshing. Not so much a fan of hearing the song sung an octave lower, but for what it is, it's fun.

Ambitious. He's "having a laugh" as our British Invasion friends would say, however, who's really having the last laff, here, especially in The Troub.

Ultimately, in a word, "Surreal", and not particularly the good kind.
