Brilliant Idea: Concert Mats

I wish I had thought of this: door mats made from old concert tickets. You can mail or scan your old ticket stubs to Lakeside Photo Works and suddenly your favorite concert is now an awesome door mat for your place. These start at $34, which is cheap for a nice door mat.

My problem is that I don't keep concert stubs. I never had anywhere to display them, so I just pitch 'em after the show. I really wish I had an Aerosmith stub to turn in to a mat. Since the band is supposed to tour next year, I'll definitely keep my stub and then order one of these for my front door. Too cool! Hat Tip: Sixx Sense.

I have a cork-board to which affix mementos of concerts past. I actually loathe the print outs and/or scans that they use nowadays. My latest ticket: Heart, Joan Jett, and Cheap Trick at Shoreline this past Wednesday. It is up there with all the other tickets, lanyards, and wristbands.

But, now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind wiping my feet on a Sixx:A.M. stub. Seems sorta' fitting.

Nice to see things have been humming along during my sabbatical, even some new names. At the same time, nice to be back. Can't wait to see what Allyson comes up with as summer, alas, turns to fall.

I had this conversation not too long ago. Tickets today are print at home or scan on your phone. You basically have nothing to show unless you pay $50 for a shirt or something. I have tons of ticket stubs that i saved but not so many nowdays. That was part of it you save your stubs and display them. Cool idea for a door mat just dont know which one i would do.

Him,LMFAO @ "wiping my feet on a Sixx:AM mat! This is a cool idea. Unfortunately, I never hung to even one freaking stub from the piles of shows I've been to over the last 40 years. ((I'm so damn old I saw Beethoven open for Mozart) Be cool to have the stub from my very 1st "big time" show (Kiss in 1976 when I was a ripe old 13 years old) that cost a whopping $7.50 if I remember correctly.. Now, you couldn't buy Gene $immon$ obnoxious opinion on something for that price....lol

I always stuck my ticket stubs into the cassette or CD cover of the bands I went to see to remind me when I pulled them out to play them.

In my rock room, I have my tickets in chronological order in a Jack Daniels plastic cup that I got from Rocklahoma I. Prior to that, they were in a 25th Anniversary souvenir cup from The Who tour at the 'ol Veteran's Stadium in Philly. I used to have every stub, but about 10 years ago (especially at festivals), I tend to leave early to beat traffic and I give my tickets (mine and whomever came with me) to two people on the lawn in order for them to get up close and personal with the band.

I base my decision on who to give the tickets to: A father and son/daughter, a mother and son/daughter or two friends wearing t-shirts of the band who are currently on (or about to go on) stage. Ironically, I have the hardest time trying to give the tix away to a mom/child. I guess that's just the protective nature/society in which we live.

I have made my wishes known, I want to be cremated with my tix along with a few select concert tees' which are too badly tattered these days to continue wearing.

I like the mat idea. With respect to the ticket stubs, I really don't like how in many cases now you either print out tickets on a sheet of paper, or go paperless. I also have kept every concert ticket for every show I've ever attended, starting with Poison/Tesla in 1988. I like going through it every once in a while just to see who I've seen, and also see how prices have inflated! But yeah, I have much fewer stubs for the last 5 years. Whenever I have the option to get tickets printed and sent to me, I still choose that for this reason.

Haha!!, HIM! -- wiping your feet on a SIXX A.M. Doormat! I bet you guys can guess who I'd wipe my feet on!

p.s. Allyson?! WTH?! I can't believe you NEVER saved any stubs considering all the shows you've seen. I kept most of mine unless I was too drunk and lost it... Probably the most prized I managed to hold onto: Led Zeppelin, Capital Centre, Largo, MD, May 27th, 1977.

Two things I wish I had held onto: all of my ticket stubs, and all of my concert shirts. Sadly, I got rid of most of them when I moved cross-country. the oldest stub I still have is ZZ Top at the Philadelphia Spectrum in 1980. that ticket cost me $7.50.

So I still have my original Poison shirt from 1988, in white believe it or not. I would wear it to the shows they played a few years ago before Bret went off on his own. Some folks would stop me to take a picture with me in the shirt, but I"m not sure it was the shirt, or probably the fact it really doesn't fit at all anymore, so I looked like an idiot ...

A friend of mine got one made 2 weeks ago and its bad a**!! I would be afriad to step on it. Haha. Would def make some cool christmas gifts......
For the record, this camera/photo company is located about 10 mins from where I live. This rocks they are getting some great publicity.

Side Note, I worked for the concert promoter named on this ticket (Beaver Productuons) for 5 yrs after College (in late 90s/early 00s). The ZZ Top song Jesus Left Chicago is about the owner of the Company. The comoany has been in existence since 1969, had their Nola home office completely submerged after a levee breach from Hurricane Katrina in 05 and they have managed to keep going as an independent promoter through all the Live Nation, AEG industry takeover changes. Gotta give props to all the independent promoters who never threw in the towel.
Juat some tidbits for all you BBG-ers out there!! \m/

Cool backstory, Kari. Thanks for sharing that. Nice to see a gusty company getting some love (and attention).
