It's Happening: New L.A.Guns With Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis

News via LA Weekly: Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns are joining forces once again to record a new album as L.A. Guns. The new album will be on Frontiers and I'll be buying it on the very first day! I'm very excited about this!

While this is very exciting, the only thing that scares me about it is the record label. frontiers is famous for melodic hard rock/AOR type stuff. I wonder if Frontiers will let the boys do their thing, or if they'll try to mold them into the Frontiers sound. Only time will tell.

Considering Drummer Steve Riley is the legitimate legal owner of the name "L.A. Guns", I'm going to make popcorn & watch the fireworks of Phil & Tracii attempting to get a record released under that moniker.

Huge news! First day buyer as well. Sleaze glam returns to save this wretched music scene! Philadelphia voice on clips from Hairnation Fest sounds KILLER!

H-U-U-U-G-E!!!

Ace! Are you sure Riley owns the name outright? Can't believe Lewis would do this without ownership.

So there are now 3 versions of LA Guns and Phil is in 2 of them?

Great day and confirmation about this version of L.A Guns! I hope the newr ecord sounds like Waiking the dead era(really amazing & pro) ..again.. anyone knows about Mick Cripps or Kelly Nickels..?
L.A Guns & GNR are my favorite bands, so i am really happy.. Lewis & Guns togheter ..really amazing.. i hope to come to Buenos Aires in 2017!!!!

Regards, long live to sleaze, glam & real rock!!!!!

@ace - Steve and Tracii own it 50/50. Been this way since '96 when Phil, Mick and Kelly quit following the Vicious Circle tour. Tracii and Steve started the "American Hardcore" era band owing everything.

So it's just as legal as Steve releasing a record called L.A.Guns without Tracii, which he did several times.

Cool shit. I kind of figured this would happen,as the beef was mostly between Tracii and Riley, not so much with Phil. Maybe they could get Blotzer to drum for Riley and call it LA Rattguns (or Gunratts?) and then split the court costs for the litigation costs no doubt lurking down the line.... Lol

So, to be clear, there are 2 versions of LA Guns again, and they are BOTH fronted by Phil Lewis now? *blank stare*

L.A. Guns 1988 Tommy's Dallas Tx.

Saw 'em point blank with Tracii at the following:

The Country Club in L.A. in 1986 (before the record deal was signed!)

Network up in "The 'Dena" otherwise known as Pasadena, MD in 1987 and 1988

The Ritz in NYC in 1989 and 1990

Then sans Tracii twice at M3, 4 times on The Monsters of Rock Cruise and once at 80's in The Park.

No two ways about it (pun unintended), Tracii makes all the difference in the world. Now if he and Riley could just get over themselves, then we'd really have something, especially if they could get Nickels or Kripps back, too!

So, Riley isn't involved in this version of the band he is in currently?!!? Huh? I wonder if Riley and Lewis sleep in different beds now?

Seriously, though, is this going to be a Bun E. Carlos situation where Riley cashes the check based on his partial or full ownership of the band name (given Ace's and Mike's conflicting comments on the topic)?

I mean, people care most about Riley and Guns. So this makes sense in terms of branding. But the article is odd (it is Blabbermouth). Did Lewis change his stripes? What happens with the rest of the Riley version of the band? Is this just a grab at some cash? Can someone clarify this for me?

Correction: "Most people care most about Lewis and Guns."

Totally agree with Him..the duo is Lewis & Guns.. the sound of L.A.Guns.. i saw here in Buenos Aires the "25 anniversary tour" ,back in 2006, with Paul Black on vocals.. it was really good, but Phil`s voice is the sound of this band,, i cant wait to see this two playin togheter..

This is not LA Guns, this is the Lewis/Guns band. Wish more originals were involved. Great band, imho.

I agree with BK. Still it's better than the Lewis / Riley version. Guns is one of THE best electric guitarists out touring today. He just flat out burns the stages the rest of them stand on to the ground. I've witnessed it with my own two eyes many, many times.
