Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis Announce UK Tour
Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 08:47AM
Continuing the trend of unlikely reunions, Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis will hit the road together for a UK tour this March. This isn't a full fledged LA Guns reunion, since that band - with Phil at the helm - is rolling just fine. Rather, I take this to be a reunion between two guys who want to collaborate again and maybe do more together in the future.
Here's the dates:
Friday 10 March – Belfast, Limelight 2
Saturday 11 March – HRH AOR
Sunday 12 March – Swansea, Scene Club
Wednesday 15 March – Buckley, Tivoli
Thursday 16 March – Bristol, Bierkeller
Friday 17 March – Basingstoke, Stage
Saturday 18 March – Wolverhampton, Civic Hall
Sunday 19 March – Chester, Live Rooms
Monday 20 March – Doncaster, Diamond Live
Wednesday 22 March – Sheffield, O2 Academy
Friday 24 March – Glasgow, O2 Academy
Saturday 25 March – London, O2 Academy

But this is good for fans. Pretty sure most really only care about seeing Guns and Lewis playing together. I just wonder what Riley thinks of it.
And good call, Badland. I wonder if Holmes sent him a copy of his recent CD as a gift!

is true that Steve Riley have the right of the band name..?
Where is Mick Cripps...???
Regards from Buenos Aires!!!
Each time Tracii Guns blew the doors off said venues and my a*s away!
Like HIM says, what is the deal. As mentioned by Gary, Guns had some choice words for Riley on That Metal Show, something about rights to the name, if I recall correctly. Also, Riley was on a later episode accompanied by Lewis and Riley acted dismayed as to why Tracii said what he said (you can watch the shows on VH1Classic as every episode is available from the archive).
Just like HIM, and as I'm sure others are wondering, I'm naturally, also curious to know what the h*ll happened (Where's Ace or The Insider when you need them). Maybe Lewis can get it hugged out between Guns and Riley. H*ll, if Axl and Slash can hug it out, why not these characters?
After all, that's probably what motivated Guns and Lewis (as well as Dokken, for that matter)... that leading to the increase in $$$ that can be made together rather than what they've been making separately grinding it out year after year on the road in scab bands (though somewhat formidably).
Other version is about a blues record, a tribute to the producer Andy Johns.
Here in Buenos AIres, they cancelled a show under the name " Phil & Tracii L.A. Guns" or some like that,... in a communicate they said that this is cancelled for doing a record.. but i dont know.. with Tracii or Michael Grant.. I prefer Tracii of course...

The closest I could find to the cause of all the hurt is an interview back in 08. This is what Riley said (on Blabbermouth by way of Rock Eyez):
-------------------------
He's out there thinking… Well, first of all he had to come up with some sort of a fucking shitty story about why he's out of our band. Just to capsulize it one more time: We did the album for Spitfire — "Waking the Dead" with Andy Johns. It came out and it sounded so fucking good, and we were so proud of it. We couldn't believe it. It was our first album with Andy Johns, and it was like, "Oh my god — this thing is huge!" Well, we got great reviews on it, and we got the whole ALICE COOPER tour for the world. Starting in Russia, going all the way through Europe, and then coming over here. And he quit to do the fucking BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION. Bottom line: Me and Phil begged him not to quit. "Please do both — you can do both things, man, you do not have to quit!" He told us to go fuck ourselves, in a matter of words. He said, "Forget it, I'm out of here." We lost our record deal, we lost the tour, and we had to start from scratch to build our way up again. This guy turned around — and now he knows he looks like an asshole — and he turns it around and makes it look like the band ripped him off for money, that I ripped him off for money… You know, it's just so fucking bad — it's horrible. It's like this guy is reaching so bad that me and Phil know we'll never play with this guy again. He's that devious, that bad. And we love Stacey's playing — Stacey's fucking killer. We love him — he fits in, and the fucking guy — he's really into it and he's really low-maintenance, and he knows it's a rough scene right now, but he'll do it. Trace, on the other hand, is into the mode of destruction. He knows he's out there hurting L.A. GUNS' name by having another L.A. GUNS out there.
-------------------------
And I recall those Metal Show interviews. But it still seems like a very big grudge to hold. Not sure how much of a difference flying under the band's banner (as to Snoot's point) would make. But it surely wouldn't hurt, right?
Some may think it's an overstatement to call Guns a genius but, as I said in previous comments, I saw him POINT BLANK (so close at NETWORK up in The 'Dena, I coulda reached out and plucked a string of two for him except for fear of him killing me) several times and I was plainly flat out jaw dropped at how he shredded.
AND he was entertaining as hell. As nice as Blades is or how great he is, he's no shredder, not like this guy, no way! Grant on the other hand, totally burns, though there's always that "it" factor the originator possesses over a copyist when it comes to playing the material, with very few exceptions.
Whether it was Guns being outright jacka*s inconsiderate ("Did he really say, "F*ck you guys!, Riley? I find it doubtful), or going where the money is (perhaps Brides seemed like a better deal at the time) since L.A. Guns weren't exactly raking it in at the time, Andy Johns or no Andy Johns, enough time has passed where Riley needs to get over it and give it another shot.
Or Tracii should team up with Sebastian Bach and form a new band called The Arseholes, or Arsehole, the latter in big chrome all capital lettering and crank it up in Riley's and every other naysayers' faces!
