Bret Michaels Looks Ahead To Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame
I don't have a crystal ball and neither does Bret Michaels, but he's apparently looking ahead and positively anticipating a Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame nomination. Maybe I'm negative, but I never see Poison getting a nod. Quite frankly, I hope they do. Poison deserves a spot in the hall way more than the pile of pop and hip hop artists that get in each year. I also like that Bret is being positive here. So many rock and metal musicians just automatically diss the Hall. It's not very respectable to openly mock a lifetime achievement award.

These are just a few of the more than deserving acts yet to be nominated or inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, and all should be inducted long before Bret Micheals & Poison.
{* only as 1/4 of Poison, is the only way "Bert Miracles" should ever be nominated... as a solo act, he'd have to strive to be even a D-List act.}
Ace posts a good list. But even if we start with bands like T. Rex and then move to ones like Hanoi Rocks, you can see that Poison--for all the love they get--operate in the farthest reaches of the Glam Universe when it comes to recognition by the RaRHoF. Which, in itself, is a topic for another post.
But just to repeat and extend countless previous discussions thereon: why would any musician really care about the RaRHoF to begin with? The answer is often more interesting than the question. A need to be recognized, not by fans or peers, but _simply_ to be recognized. Which sounds a bit sad. The truly great ones acknowledge that it matters to the fans more than them (Deep Purple), the mid-range ones waffle on actually taking a stand (KISS), the ones that got in before their idols and recognize that as baffling say as much (Metallica), and the truly rebellious ones give a bit ole arse up to the whole thing (Sex Pistols). Michaels treats it as if it pro forma, something that "the powers that be" will recognize "in time." We shall see . . . even if we (or I) could care less who is entombed in that coffin they call a hall.

There is no way Bret is serious with this comment.
More for CC , Bobby Dall than Bret & Rikki..
Regards from B.A!
For "glam" bands, I'd pick Crue, Leppard and Bon Jovi before Poison. So they're 4th for me.
But absolutely 100% agree that Maiden and Priest come before all of them! And I'll add the Scorpions to that list.
All that said, there is so little "Rock" in the RNR Hall of Fame it's a sham.
Ace is 100% right his list shows who should be inducted before even considering Michaels, something that is likely to never happen simply because he and/or Poison simply don't have the body of work or enduring legacy which seem to be a prerequisite to even be considered for such an honor (or dishonor, depending on who it is). And a special thanks to HIM, for his consistently perceptive analysis, as further exemplified here.
However, I DO agree with Allyson, that it is a positive that Bret Michaels is so positive, no matter how delusional he may be, regarding the possibility of his and/or Poison's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It's the classy thing to do even if you know you don't have a flyin' f*ck of a hope in h*ll you would ever actually have even the remotest chance of ever receiving such a nod.
Look, I get it, it was apropos and actually quite funny, When The Sex Pistols didn't accept their award as a statement against the corporatization of Rock & Roll. That's the Pistol's brand. That's what they do.
But for jerks like SIXX to presume Crüe would ever get in and already send out a homing pigeon to offer his regrets for being unable to accept before ever even receiving an invite in the first place is beyond preposterous.
See the difference? Even though both probably know deep down they have an eskimo's hope in h*ll of ever getting in, see how it's better to say if you were to ever be so lucky to receive such an honor, you would gladly accept it, as opposed to Sixx who comes off arrogantly ridiculous when he says he would not accept it.
And when any one of the bands on Ace's list get in, which I'm predicting most will as it would continue to be criminal if they did not, they should take a page from Cheap Trick. They graciously accepted, allowing Bun E. Carlos, their estranged original drummer up on stage with them to personally accept his award and rejoin the band for a one-off reunion, made even more special by the fact you could hear that original sound of what made these guys so great.
No Axl and Eddie no show sh*t! So, SIXX, take a cue, I met Johnny Rotten and you're no Johnny Rotten. And, Michaels, regardless of how big a tool you are, hats off to you for at least considering it an honor to receive something you will never stand a chance of winning!
it is obvious that some deserving bands have had to wait way too long for enshrinement, and the hall is fine with that. what is not clear is which artist are deserving. by my criteria, half the artist in the hall would be booted and few would ever get in - but i am picky. poison doesn't make the cut. yes they had hits. yes decent longevity. but hslf the band's catalog went unheard and any influence they had on the next generation was almost in mockery.
now if it was the bandanna hall of fame ...
BK, I sympathize with your unconditional love of Motlëy Crüe but just to be clear, make know mistake, I'm a HUGE fan, having seen 'em five times POINT BLANK and owning EVERY album including a first press of "Too Fast For Love" AND around 6 HUGE official Electra posters along with several bootleg DVDs I watch over and over again.
But I'm a realist... It's not whether I (in bold) think they deserve to get in or not, it's whether they're worthy that is called into question, especially when SIXX says he's going to turn it down when Crüe's going to get announced as his crack pipe dream.
