Happy Winter Solstice

It's the shortest day of the year, also known as the Winter Solstice. That also means we're just three days away from Christmas. You're probably pretty busy right now, bustling to shops and parties and work. Remember to take a few minutes out of the day for you.

The best part of the Winter Solstice for me is that we're on the upswing now - the days will begin to get lighter and thus seem longer. I despise that it gets dark at 5 p.m. - my office throws a party each March when the time changes!

For my money, Dokken's "Dream Warrior" version of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" always puts me in a festive spirit this time of the year.

For those of you who like the blending of comedy and horror, and don't mind that combo served up with international flair, I heartily recommend _Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale_. Great little movie from Finland, and fitting this time of year.

While you’re at it, HIM, if I may humbly add to your playlist (and everyone else’s), Cheap Trick has a Christmas album out this year aptly titled, “Christmas Christmas”!

Though it has plenty of original Christmas songs, it’s also got some great covers with a killer rendition of The Ramones, “Merry Christmas (I Don’t Wanna Die Tonight)” as the standout.
