Classic Dokken Back Together Again

Classic Dokken is back together again. Yes, vocalist Don Dokken, guitarist George Lynch, bassist Jeff Pilson and drummer "Wild" Mick Brown, all got together in the same room in Los Angeles to film a music video for the song "It's Just Another Day." That song will be on the band's upcoming CD/DVD package. There hasn't been a new Dokken album with this lineup since 1997... I mean, I was a junior in high school back then. This seems to be pretty cool news. I look forward to the video and new album!

Looking forward to this! Even though Don;s voice is shot, I'm sure studio magic will make it sound good.

Don will sing it like a slightly provocative Book on Tape.

He certainly does give new meaning to "slow burn" these days . . . and I say that as a diehard fan!

In other news, they found Hank Williams' shirt in the back of Mick Brown's golf cart.

@Him. Judging by his chins, Rumor has it Don has changed the words of "Into The Fire" to "Into The Fryer".....

You win, Gary. Another spit-take!!! Much obliged.

Let me add to the mirth . . .

"Just Got Turkey"
"(Heart)Burning Like A Flame"
"Cream (Cheese) Warriors"
"Spareribs Are Burning"
"Breaking The Chains (On The Fridge)"
"Cry of the Gypsy (Schnitzel)"
"Stop Fighting Lunch"

I only hope his voice is back and the new album is as good as the new LA Guns or as good as the last Ratt album.

"Spareribs are burning" killed me Him!!!

PS I'm thinking "It's Not Lunch" for my favorite Dokken song of all time, "It's Not Love".

Good that we can all have a laugh. The holidays are upon us and a sense of good cheer pervades these posts. As it should.

I, like every other metal lover, wish Dokken all the best. But our giggles temper the fact that we all know--even fanboys like myself--that the magic that once was is no longer. That I can squint and get on with it, while others can only see the harsh glare of what is, matters not. Again and again I have said: we support those bands we love even when loving them is a dirty job (see what I did there?).

That said, I think we can all agree . . . I forgot to mention "Brisket of Death" and "Sipping Away." My apologies.

[I was going to include "Will the Buns Rise[?]" and "Erase the Cake." But I am an artist. I don't dabble in dirt. This is a classy joint.]

Beyond the fact that Don Dokken refuses to quit smoking and drinking in order to possibly regain his extraordinary gift The Metal Gawdz bestowed upon him, if they DID reunite longer than for this latest foray and actually toured the States, we should welcome them with open arms because, as I’ve mentioned before, it’s the only way to hear Lynch perform a bunch of Dokken songs in a row.

Otherwise, his set lists are 97% Lynch Mob. So, by all means, if we have to listen to Don Dokken sounding like the next great golf announcer in order to hear Lynch burn up the Dokken catalogue, by all means, I’m there!
