Aldo Nova Releases New Album And Song 'I’m A Survivor'

Aldo Nova is a performer we don't talk about much here. Completely underrated in my book as a solo artist, but he has enjoyed a lot of success writing songs for others.

Nova was pretty big in the early 80s. Maybe not 100% glam but definitely AOR. Aldo Nova 2.0 just came out and that new album features the track "I'm A Survivor." Check it out.

First time I heard the opening power chords to Fanrasy in 1982, they immediately grabbed me by the proverbial spuds. Just a kick ass riff. Nothing fancy, just powerful. To this I day still love that songs balls. On a side note, . Bon Jovi gets the credit for the song Blaze Of Glory. Guess who wrote the guitar riff? ( hint,it wasn't Richie Sambora or JBJ... Lol)

Sorry, man, I cannot roll with Aldo Nova. Yeah, okay, he is the undisputed King of Canadian AOR was responsible for a couple of hummable tunes but in the same way equally annoying one hit wonders like “Seasons In The Sun” or “Afternoon Delight” are.

“I cringed when I first heard “Fantasy” and still would if I ever heard it again, something I’ve managed to avoid for 10 years, the last time being when I included it in my first Hair Metal playlist for purely completist reasons. “Blood On The Bricks” fared a little better, getting three listens from me on Part 2 of my Hair Metal playlist.

And then there’s “Blaze Of Glory”, which he apparently had a hand in, one of the most boring songs in the Bon Jovi cannon. I say this because there are so many, the 3 or 4 hits from “Slippery When Wet” being the only exceptions.

Add the Celine Dion onto the pile and you’ve got some of the most horrible mediocre music ever committed to MP3 files!

Bon Voyagi, Alpo Nova!

Well, he did lend some heft to at least one catchy BoC song (someone name it!).

I still dig "Fantasy." Even if I can barely listen to it these days.

To me, this guy is a decade late (at least) with this album. And he messed up the redo of "Fantasy" as well.

I see him as a better-adjusted (though less talented) Vinnie Vincent. He seems to exist in an echo-chamber.
