Another Great White Lineup Change
Right on the back of the ridiculous RATT news, here's another lineup change: Great White has a new singer. Terry Ilous is out and Mitch Malloy is in.
The first paragraph of the press release is this:
"Legendary rock band, Great White is proud to announce that Mitch Malloy is now its lead singer. Malloy, a celebrated songwriter and artist now based in Nashville, takes the reigns as only the third lead vocalist in Great White’s 36-year history."
Only the third lead singer? Seriously? Now we're proud of not having too many lineup changes? This is insane. There's one singer of Great White and his name is Jack Russell. His touring band bothers me too. All these scab versions, two and three touring versions. It's just ridiculous.
You can see Mitch Malloy sing for Great White because the band is on tour this summer.

This summer, this (no Jack Russell version) Great White is playing the KY state fair with Vixen, so I'll go check it out and see how the new singer does.
and i just saw that ilous found out by email. stay classy great white.
That said, and?!?!? Is part of working the steps turning your back on a person who is clearly in pain? Is it going tit-for-tat with a person who helped you shape the band into what it once was (don't assume "what is"), even when you know that that same person is struggling . . . like you did?
Trust me, I get it. You get rid of dead weight when it suits the band. Warrant did it. Others have too. There is always a limit to what you can/will put up with when your career/business is on the line. But the gloss your band puts out, Mr. Kendall, suggests that you are driving it. And, if so, what you are promoting is an illusion only meant to suit you.
Here is the shocker: I actually _do_ get it. Great White, like Skid Row, might be better off without the lead vox that made them famous. It might make no sense to the fans. It might be a loss for you financially. But you feel better by sticking to your guns. Just be careful (and take a page from Skid Row): don't frame things in a way that smacks of feeling better about being lesser and then expect fans to clap. We don't clap on demand. We don't take BS in the form of a PR.
So own your story. You certainly have a good set of pipes with the new singer (a thing I posted about months ago). You certainly had a set of pipes with your old singer (I found him "meh" in this band and agree with stu that he should get back to work with a band and a sound that better suited him).
But, you? Kendall? You might want to rethink your attitude and review those coins you have. You gained them, and your health, and you should be celebrated for that. But they are not worth money. And they aren't worth integrity. And a "higher power" is not the one who has to answer for how you act, how you treat band-mates, or how you spin what it is you are attempting to do.
Coin flip. Russell. But it could have been Kendall. See? It ain't too hard to figure out who is really singing the blues and who is whining.
And that venue IMercury Ballrooom) is my favorite in Louisville to see shows. Seen everything from tribute bands (Journey, GNR, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Ozzy, Metallica) to first rate acts like Steel Panther and Brothers Osbourne there. And I know the latter is a country act, but one of those Osbourne dudes can just shred on guitar like nobody's business!
Such a shame Kendall can’t patch it up with Russell, who’s voice is apparently back, along with his psyche — Well, beyond anything I would expect if myself, if I lived through what he did.
