Farewell Marty Balin

Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane has died. He was 76. Their track "Somebody To Love" is one of my favorite songs, period.

RIP. Hopefully he's at peace now as his life, especially where Jefferson airplane/Starship was concerned, was pretty tumultuous. IF you've ever watched the "Behind the Music" done about the band, and do even a slight reading between the lines, you'll see that he was attracted to grace Slick, and was doing whatever he could to rationalize the fact that he was literally the only person in that band who she didn't sleep with. and, to see a band that he put so much effort into, even so far as getting his a** kicked in the travesty that was Altamont, change so radically to the point where he was almost irrelevant, had to mess with his mind. finally, Allyson, have you ever heard the original version of "Somebody to Love?" that was one of the tunes that Grace Slick brought with her from the Great Society along with White Rabit.
