Faster Pussycat, Bang Tango Announce Tour
Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 07:19AM
This looks like a lot of fun! Faster Pussycat and Bang Tango are going on tour together this summer. There's even a date near me. The tour kicks off at the Whisky A Go-Go, which just seems right since the run is called Return to the Sunset Strip. There are dates all over the country. Hopefully you can catch one of these shows.
We're having terrible winter weather in my neck of the woods today. It is nice to think about summer concerts and warm weather. I'm over the snow and ice!

Listen to the two worst singers in Rock n’ Roll vie for the title of “Worst Singer In The World”.
Having seen both acts numerous times both back in the day and today. the truth is neither of these guys could ever sing their way out of a paper bag.
Okay, so I get part of the “charm” of Sleaze Metal is to have a gravely voiced frontman but it’s always astounded me how truly awful both Taime Downe and Joe Leste actually are live. It’s one thing to punch in their vocals in the studio but live?! Oy vey!
The irony is Leste sounded better (if that’s possible) than Downe back in the day and now they’ve switched roles and Downe is the better of the two.
In all fairness, both bands do have great songs, particularly “Someone Like You” (Bang Tango) and “Bathroom Wall” (Faster Pussycat) but, let’s face it both the singers AND the bands are mere shadows of themselves.
The singers are the only original members of each band and can’t sing while the bands are comprised of mediocre musicians, especially now that Ace Von Johnson (not an original member but a helluva guitarist) departed Faster Pussycat for L.A. Guns.
But, hey, the tour should be fun! Just be sure to wear your Bose noise cancelling headphones!
@ GNR I like to throw a thinker into my goon babble occasionally, just to keep us all on our toes. Lol
I like "Stranger than Paradise", and actually learned to play "I Don't Want to Live Without you" on guitar and played it at my wedding lol.
Funny comments all around in this thread though!
I really like the current incarnation of Faster Pussycat, having seen them twice at M3, including the show 2 years ago when Taime didn't make it due to pneumonia, and they had guest singers. House of Pain is in my top 5 favorite ballads from the 80's, those lyrics always get me.
With both Downe and Leste trading duet vocals like an anti-Christ Everly Brothers fronting the 17 member band of drunken non-musicians you describe.
And I was going to mention “You’re So Vain” instead of “Bathroom Wall” but figured I’d give ‘em the original since “You’re So Vain”’ is a Carly Simon cover.
As much as I love the Faster Pussycat version, despite Downe’s fingernails across the blackboard vocals, I won’t go quite as far as claiming it’s better than the original, especially when you consider who’s singing back-ups for Carly Simon on her original version.
p.s. Sleez Beez are great! Check out their albums “Srewed, Blued & Tattooed” and “Powertool”! They frickin’ ROCK!!!
And, if not for that one song, I really wouldn't know Sleaze Beez (thank you, Hair Nation!). Glad to see steverox cheekily defending them.
Back in the day, both bands brought something to the table. They had their niches and they filled them well. Nowadays, they move the tables so that they can perform. But I give 'em credit for slogging along. Not my life. Their life. And having seen one of the bands fairly recently (FP), I had a great time. Same tired shtick. But Taime knows how to make it look a wee less tired (even when he is sitting on the edge of the stage and his bass players is falling backwards into the stacks). I like FP's songs, as they hearken (or harken) back to older styles of rnr with a dose of the sleaze we (or most of us) like. And "Slip of the Tongue" is all of that distilled down to its finest and worst. Bang Tango (the drink of spacemen!) had a unique sound but never quite made the transition. Sorta' like the Extreme of non-mainstream rock/metal. It seems most of that is due to the temperamental man who leads, and now is, the band.
Can you find that burger joint where they are playing on MapQuest? Again, good laughs everyone!
HIM!, ya know I love ya but if you listen to those albums, both released on a major label, Atlantic, though they didn’t have the success of Extreme, they’re the better band of the two. WAY more Rockin’ with WAY more accessible tunes.
“Screwed, Blued & Tattooed”, released in 1989, went to 115 on the Billboard Top 200 and two of their songs, “Stranger Than Paradise” from “Screwed”, and “I Don’t Want To Live Without You”, from “Powertool”, got heavy rotation on MTV.
After opening for Skid Row, they went on to headline 90 shows in the U.S. and Canada on the strength of “Stranger Than Paradise”.
Needless to say, their singer, Andrew Elt, runs circles around the two clowns who are the focus of this post.
Their sound is “mainstream”, even if their sales weren’t.
Nonetheless... I would go see this Burger Joint tour even though it is what is expected. They play a casino that's within reasonable distance, so I can always lose money and my appreciation for them when they were good.
But my reason to post today was reading about Sleeze Beez reminded of the mixtape we had where we put like the sleaziest, overt, dirtiest songs on it. And "Brains Go to the Balls" was definitely on it. And we should all be invited to every wedding from here on out that includes a cover of "I Don't Want To Live Without You". You can text me the RSVP, I'll be there :)
Him: "Too frickin’ hilarious, as usual, Funny Gary!" You see what I mean?
I'm sorry, but I'll be the minority. It's not hilarious or even close to roflmao.
I should have a (several) #metoo moment(s) simply from logging in on here.
No offense Gary, I appreciate what you do.
BTW, if this tour were closer, I'd go in a heartbeat. It's just hat at my (our) age, it's a c*nt hair out of reach for me to make the commitment. Now it the sleaze beez were also on the line-up, I'd might have to reconsider.
Hey now, I used the infamous Metalboy! asterisk instead of the "u".
And Fletch, not that it matters, but you too attribute (it seems?) a comment Metalboy! made to me. Then again, this is one of your "harder to track" posts. So I will leave it alone.
So, Gary, you are moving on up? That's great news! Always wanted to be upwardly mobile, even if it only involved stairs I didn't own!
