Queen and Adam Lambert Rock The Oscars
Monday, February 25, 2019 at 07:22AM
Did you see Queen and Adam Lambert open the Oscars last night? The band performed in support of the nominated film Bohemian Rhapsody. The film won a few awards, including Rami Malek for best actor. Too bad it didn't win film of the year. And Lady Gaga won a well-deserved Oscar for her song "Shallow" from A Star Is Born.

Loved Queen and Adam Lambert ... though I would have personally preferred if after "We Will Rock You", they played "Bohemian Rhapsody". Then Wayne and Garth could have driven out on stage in a car and head-banged their way during the operatic section and the subsequent rocking finale. That would have been epic.
But hey, any Queen is much better than no Queen, and I'm glad it took home a few Oscars.
The Bradley Cooper/Lady GaGa duet (great song by the way) oozed with sex appeal and chemistry. Anybody who doesn't think there isn't something going on there is blind. Yes, I know they're both actors, but come-on now. Some kind of announcement coming soon, you heard it here first ;-) And I'm not rooting for this given Bradley is married with child, but you can't stop fate from happening.
Overall it was quite an enjoyable show, though like always, I hadn't seen the Best Picture winner. The last one of those I saw (and liked) was Slumdog Millionaire in 2008. Just take a look at the winner list since then ... it's a who's who of nobody cares movies (in my humble opinion).
I loved the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performance. I feel like a terrible person for saying this but those 2 need to get it on. They make an awesome couple. I loved that movie and thought they both did a great job. I would be happy if they got together but don't know why. Wouldn't change my life in the least ha ha. But I also bet it is just a matter of time. You know Hollywood. Spouses get changed like underpants.
And I just watched Bohemian Rhapsody before the Oscars and loved that too. Rami did a fantastic job playing Freddie. He deserved that Oscar. What a shame we lost Freddie so young. Still very sad.
I thought that Adam Lambert is probably the best guy to fill in for Freddie but it seems like a different band altogether. To me anyway.
So what if he’s a little light in the loafers, as they say. Dude can sing his derrieré off, is loyal to the memory of Mercury and the band and fans love him!
Watch the opening of The Oscars again. Queen just rip it up, especially May. And what’s the big deal with only having two original members. One passed away and the other wound up with a bad Jheri Curl mullet.
Regardless of all the changes, no one can get that Queen guitar sound like May, no ifs and buts about it!
Lambert and Queen are likely all we are gonna get going forward. And that's fine. Guy has a great set of pipes and injects a bit of vigor into the act. As I have said before, I preferred them with Paul Rodgers because it was Queen-adjacent and different, and not bad company to keep at this late stage in all of their careers (see what I did there?). Deacon bowed out gracefully and, I think, for perfectly understandable reasons. He remains an important part of their legacy. But I get the appeal of people seeing this sort of version of Queen playing the classics in a manner that is more in keeping with what people recall, while also providing a bit of something new and more vital.
And, not that I want to ruin the Kumbaya tone you are attempting to set, Bkallday, but I have to ask: where did you look? I was gonna add 'laugh out loud' then decided not to do so since it was sorta' implied in my question.
I thought GaGa and Cooper were incredible in their performance.
One of THE Greatest Moments In Academy Awards History!
I don’t even have to really even like a song (though, in this case I do) to recognize if it’s well performed or not.
Hey, the d*mn thing won a Grammy, a Golden Globe, an Oscar and was performed live on all 3 live telecasts of each of those ceremonies. And it’s currently #1 on the Billboard Chart.
All of that oughta tell ya something.
