Sammy Hagar Speaks For Michael Anthony

It seems odd the way this story is written, but it looks like Sammy Hagar is speaking for bassist Michael Anthony now. There are always rumors that Van Halen will reunite. It doesn't seem like much is happening on that front these days. And bass player Michael Anthony hasn't played with Van Halen since 2004. Now all of a sudden folks are saying a reunion is happening and Mike is in. Well Sammy says that isn't happening... but he gives his blessing anyway. So we'll see. But I wouldn't get too excited.

I dunno. DLR is a hype machine (and I mean that in a good way). When he spilled the beans on his vision--stadiums, the 'original' comment, etc.--it certainly got people talking. And DLR love to do that and love to get people doing that.

But nothing, and I mean nothing, will happen unless EVH wants it to happen. Full stop. So DLR will have to settle for whatever that means, or spend some time releasing a solo album (like the one he has in the can with John 5, no pun intended), or selling his tat lotions to inked Millennials in need of moisture. And he will do so mindful of the fact (see: DLR, Sammy, Michael, Cherone, Malloy) that all of that is contingent on EVH not getting mad, changing his mind, or grabbing his new custom over-priced shoes and going back home to stew in it.

Personally, I would be happy if this current (tentative, meaning including Wolfie) configuration of VH releases one more record on par with ADKOT. I thought it was great, age and rehashes and studio trickery and all. It was a squintingly close approximation to 'back in the day'. Live? Not so much. But everyone knows that. DLR is a spent force as a singer, even if he still has it as a front man to some degree, and as an interview subject to the Nth degree. That is said as--and my words on this site previously support this--a fanboy.

And then I would be happy if they retire. Michael back? Awesome. I am up for that too. Not so much Hagar, Cherone, or Malloy. Besides, that last guy has got a sweet gig touring every fair in the land . . . and you gotta' find ways to pay for such a bright smile and poofy hair!

Hagar should stay out of it! Sounds like he’s trying to derail it because he’s trying to keep Anthony to himself plus it would kill him if they went out with Anthony and Roth but not him.

Sounds like pure “sour grapeitis” to me!

Go back to writing and recording the kind of unlistenable crap you’ve been putting out with Satriani but WITHOUT Anthony so he can get on with the REAL business at hand!

Methinks Hagar has a right to sour grapes. But, that said, bellowing at the moon ain't going to change the stripes on erratic EVH. At the very least, he stuck by Anthony and treats him with respect.

Yeah, but who needs him chiming in, meaning Hagar, not you, HIM.

I think it could apply to both of Hagar and me, Metalboy! Only difference, I don't have the money. Oh, and I am not worried about alien abductions! I assume that is the tequila talking though.
