Meet The Kings of Chaos
This band is playing at RiverEdge Park on June 22 in Aurora, IL. That's a suburb of Chicago. This is being billed as a once in a lifetime show, so no clue if this group is really together or just jamming for this one night. GA seats are $30. Tickets are on sale now. Click the Facebook post below and you can click through to get the tickets.
Just thinking about this show reminds me of summer: warm weather and fun. It's fitting because this show happens during the first official weekend of summer. Let me know if you're planning on attending this one. After all, who knows when you will get to see Warren DeMartini perform live again.

Yup, William beat me to it. Not a bad mix of people (though an odd mix). KoC specialize in one-offs. It makes the PR for this that much more hilarious. It is so breathless in describing the stature of those august members of the rocking panel!!! Next up: an album on Frontiers! Lord knows they need another super group to foist on the willing masses.
And I wouldn't be slagging on Gramm, texjay. He ain't what he once was. But he is doing quite a bit better than he had been doing. More's the pity that he is realigning with Jones Inc.and not keeping his solo band going. Then again, those few shows he does with them probably pay a lot more bills. Moreover, Hansen seems to treat him with all due respect. And he is certainly due that.
I mean, if it’s not that shot, like how Bach’s is kinda shot but he can still scream on key, then it would probably we worth it to see Foreigner with Gramm on lead vocals.
Look, Hansen’s great but his vocal stylings are a tad generic, where Gramm is, well, Gramm. What a shame all those years went by he and Jones couldn’t hug it out.
As for Kings of Chaos, I’m having de ja vú, thanks to you giving my memory a jumpstart, William and HIM, as I seem to remember several years ago, Allyson posting about the project as Clarke’s and at the time, Matt Sorum on drums.
I gather they will do a smattering if each other’s hits as well as a handful of covers with the following list or similar to cull from:
“Hot Blooded”, “Double Vision”, “I Want to Know What Love Is”, “Midnight Blue” “Round and Round”, “Way Cool Jr.”, “Lovin’ You Is A Dirty Job”, “18 and Life”, “Youth Gone Wild”, “I Remember You”, “Slave To The Grind”, “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, “I Want To Rock”, “Sweet Child of Mine”, “Paradise City” (Even though Clarke did not appear on the album from which they came), “November Rain”, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”, etc.
What will be interesting to see is who pulls what duty on the perfunctory covers and exactly what they will be. One could imagine tunes such as “Whole Lotta Love”, “Rock & Roll All Nite”, “Baba O’ Riley”, “It’s Only Rock And Roll”, etc. being in the mix.
Exactly what covers and who sings them will be part of the mystery and fun of attending this show. I may be in Chicago around this time on business. If it’s not to big of a schlep, there’s an outside chance I may be able to attend.
Like maybe another example would be like.. Nikki Sixx, George Lynch Slash, Coverdale, Oni Logan, and.... Richard Marx.
Well, that's more extreme and over the top but I just meant waaaay different styles ya know? Similar, similar, similar, left turn. I dunno just caught me off guard. lol.
Of course with George Lynch it would be his 6,037th side project...dude is prolific!
Metalboy!, compared to his prime, Gramm is not what he once was. But, like I said, the amount of improvement he has made in recent years is impressive. And you can still hear the old sparkle. But he doesn't have the range anymore. That said, if the recent videos of him on the Double Vision: Then and Now concerts are any indication, it would be a good show. Like I said, Hansen treats him with respect (and, by his own admission, Gramm is a bit frail and anxiety-prone after all he has been through).
I still remember seeing him painfully working his way through a set on a double-bill with Journey (in the Augeri-era). There was no reason for him to be on stage. To me, and based on what I have read since, it was all Jones' doing. And it was sad to watch.
Seen Logan mentioned a couple of times in recent posts. That guy is his own worst enemy. He always struck me as a Ray Gillen-lite sorta' singer. No doubt the talent, granted. But he has been dealing with demons since the start. And that seems to be the reason he can't hold down a vox position. A shame really. There is certainly a place for that style of singing.
