RATM Officially Added to Coachella Lineup

Rage Against the Machine will officially headline Coachella. There was rumor of this back in November but now we know it is for real. I've never had any interest in going to this fest, but I will say RATM is a big get and will be great. The rest of the lineup does nothing for me. What can I say? I'm just too old and out of touch I guess.

Coachella strikes me as a musical version of Burning Man. Both ideas, in theory, could be a hoot. Actually, both were likely a great time when they started. But both seem like affectation festivals nowadays.

Hard pass, even if there is delicious irony in the fact that RatM is headlining. They are perfectly suited for this sort of thing.

first off, danny elfman is the only artist on there i’d remotely want to see. so i guess i am too old for this show.

I would only go to Coachella if a Kardashian invited me to go. So that means never.

You are right, stu. Danny Elfman is a genius. Even without the weird and wise musings of Oingo Boingo, his compositions for television and film are recognizable and catchy.

A follow-up note to my previous post: RatM should do a cover of Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine." But, you know, harder and edgier.

Yes, this festival once hosted such notable acts as AC/DC, Gn’R (with special appearance of Angus Young), The Damned, Iggy & The Stooges, Greta Van Fleet, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, Tool, Beastie Boys, Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, The Strokes, Prince, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, Lady GaGa, Blur, The Stone Roses, The Killers, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Jack White, and Outcast, among others.

Now, barring any other new major announcements, it can officially be renamed “Chokella”!
