Ozzy Osbourne Releases New Song 'Straight To Hell'

This is pretty good! Ozzy Osbourne just released "Straight To Hell" from the upcoming album Ordinary Man. I have to say, I like it. Maybe 2020 will be a great year for music.

Big Ozzy fan, love his older stuff and especially his Black Sabbath stuff. But to me, he hasn't released a good cd since Ozzmosis. This new stuff, unfortunately, seems to be in the same vein as his other newer stuff, generic and forgettable. Im thinking it may be time for Oz to call it a day.

Great song AND video! To me, this is actually his best in years!

If this track, with it’s n’n’out call and response guitars, is any indication, “Ordinary Man” may not only be one of his best albums in a very long while, but also, like Allyson says, “Maybe 2020 will be a great year for music.”!!!

Have to agree with Bkallday. This song has all the hallmarks of his Ozzmosis and beyond recordings: recycled call-and-responses that were once new and novel; tinny vocals; attempts to create choruses that people just have to chant or scream (see what I did there?). But when you compare this to something like "No More Tears" it just doesn't hold up. And I realize that isn't fair necessarily. But, I mean, does it?

Hey, I am on record bemoaning his decline and struggling with all that we have learned about him as the years passed (and I still hold to the opinion that much of his genius as a vocalist was the result of the gifted musicians and lyricists with whom he surrounded himself).

I don't begrudge him still making music. For me, personally, though, I wish 13 (the album, not necessarily how he sounded on the tour) was his final musical document. And I am glad that he is still with us, and that some people still find this interesting and enjoyable.

I don’t get you guys ... Are you sure we are all listening to the same track? I don’t hear anything half-hearted about it, which you guys seem to be implying. Far from it, actually.

I was going to say this is his best song SINCE “No More Tears” and I mean like a pretty close second, HIM.

I will stand by my assertion, THIS is easily his best song in years.

Please crank it up one more time, to see if you any or all of you might be willing to change your tune, no pun intended.

And I quote, “I’ll make you scream, I’ll make you deficate.”

Priceless.

Metalboy!, I will give you only the most minor of "buts" . . . this is better than the other song with Sir John. But that isn't saying much. And it is a bit below "Under the Graveyard" (pun intended). Again, though, that isn't high praise.

My issue is a simple one: Ozzy sounded great on 13. Perfect swan song(s). It was far better, as an album, that these songs. But what do I know? Ozzy seems to have found the whole process laborious and tiring . . . and that is after he threw Bill Ward under the bus. But, here again, we have the proof: Ozzy had Butler and Iommi on that record (who he also slagged on after the fact).

You know the guy that always complains about the people that surround(ed) him. They just can't cut it anymore. They hold me back. They weren't thankful. At a certain point, it might be the case that _you_ are the person you are talking about. And saying that the speed with which you recorded these songs was refreshing? Well, sure. You had more time to nap.

I won't engage in some Sharon bashing here. It is too easy. And I won't begrudge (not that they care) people like Smith and McKagan for working with him. Ozzy is, after all, Ozzy. He defies logic in the same way that Lemmy did and Richards still does. But that is about all he has got going for him these days, and then but barely. He is a legend . . . relying on the fact that he is a legend. That has got to smart on some level.

Ohhhhh . . . but wait for it. "Him, you are on here defending the spent shell that is DLR. You are a typing contradiction." Well, no. DLR still has the banter. He still has the vibe, even if he and Ozzy could compete in a "who sounds worse live" race, right behind Neil and Coverdale (Pearcy decided to take care of himself and left the race a year or so ago, even if he was never in contention for a 'golden voice' award).

Fantasy note to Ozzy: spend time with your wife and kids. Avoid rugs. Look back on the good times. Make appearances. Cut ribbons. Hell, cut coupons. You and DLR are looking in the rearview when it comes to your legacies. Thing is, both of you are struggling. But only one of you is laughing and dancing.

All right now! Come on yeah. I love you all!
