Hear Alternate Version Of 'Runnin' With The Devil'

"Runnin' With The Devil" is one of the most perfect Van Halen songs. I can't imagine the track any other way than what we've all known for the past four decades, but now an alternate version has surfaced.

The version is from the 1977 sessions and it just popped up on YouTube. There is an extended guitar solo and alternate vocal mix. This is very cool to hear. The finished product is better but this is a neat piece of Van Halen history we can all share.

Damn! Looks like Warner Music Group had it taken down!

Further proof we gotta be ready to view Allyson’s posts as soon as she posts them!

Why we can't have nice things, part MCMXXII ...

I actually got to hear this once before it got taken down. Roth's voice sounded tired, like he had been in the recording studio all day and half the night (or maybe the reverse given the time period). I wanted to go over it again after work, because I was curious to see if the rhythm guitar, bass and drum tracks were the same as on the album. The guitar tracks in the intro sure sounded the same during a couple of quick listens.

This was nothing new. Do you know how many bootleg Van Halen CD's I own.

Oper8n: if you're interested, I can (will) have them copied and sent to you. I still hope you're enjoying fox on the run. Peace/rock on.
