Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams Cancel Tour

Another one bites the dust thanks to COVID-19. The big Bon Jovi/Bryan Adams tour is canceled. I think this is the right decision because 1) it would be irresponsible to be in giant crowds this summer and 2) the cancellation means fans can get their ticket money back right away and people have a lot of bills right now and maybe an unstable economic situation.

I know people are grieving a lot right now. It is absolutely okay to be sad about missing out on fun things like concerts. No one knows what our new normal will look like next week, next month or next year but I do know we will have live music again someday.

Not a big fan of An Chovy. But that was a classy move on his part. He gets around any problems with the ticketing agents/brokers. Fans are sad, yes. But they get their money back.

I wish others (are you listening, DLR, while you draw your cartoons?) would be as proactively fan-focused. No one planned for this. But it is nice when those we are eager to see again in concert do the right thing.

Random thought #49 - how can these bands raise $$ for the cause that is hitting us right now ?

How much do you think Bon Jovi for instance could auction/raffle off to the winner the chance to pick his set list for an upcoming show ? Nothing required but a fan gets to basically pick a set list for a show. Nothing required of you coming to my hometown and play in my garage. But basically a show that will already be scheduled.

I would pay top $$$ to pick a Poison show set list :)

100% agreed with Him, classy move to cancel so fans don't get screwed by Ticketmaster.

GNR, I've said it before on this site, Poison is my favorite band. I agree 100% with you that picking a band's setlist would be the ultimate indulgence. Poison is one of those bands where it would be especially cool because 1) they play the same 7-8 songs every year, and 2) they do have some gems as deep cuts that any fan would love to hear.

But the biggest issue with Poison's setlist is that Bret can only do about an hour long show due to his diabetes. So with the 7-8 songs you kind of have to play there's not much more room. You can eliminate the guitar and drum solo, and the obligatory cover, so maybe 2 more songs in reality. But even that would be amazing!!!

Good ... Instead, why don’t Sambora and Bonchovy do an unplugged reunion concert a la Page & Plant or KISS ... And do it for free in Apple Music, Spotify & Pandora?

Great idea, GNR. Nailed it. Some small tokens, throwaways for bands with a huge catalog, a huge support staff that they pay (I think some proceeds could go to them as well), would be a great way to grease the wheels while letting fans support them while supporting those most impacted by the situation right now. There are also all kinds of other ways--signed merch, classic concert posters signed by the band (I know there are issues with that), and so on, that would also help. Megadeth did something like that recently, though I am always leery of "a portion of the proceeds" type small print.

But I hear you too, steverox. There are limitations. Some can't do things that would be great, even if we wanted them to do so. But, again, small steps and gestures can do something right now.

Again, excellent idea, GNR.

What am I? ... Cheap Patê? ... Chopped Liver, HIM?! ... Geezus!

Yes, those are ALL great ideas ... but why not go for the REAL draw! ...

Sambora and Bonchovy reuniting remotely for Charity as part of a big reunion TV show ...

In fact, I bet Bonchovy could have a real shot at reuniting Skid Row AND Cinderella for it, too, since he’s probably got those guys on speed dial!

Metalboy!, why are you worrying? You know that you and I share a kinship. And I bet your idea would be a big draw. Though I don't kowtow to Chovy, others would eat it up. See what I did there, boy who is metal? I borrowed your worries and spun them into a loving response. Bottom line: you are neither cheap pate or chopped liver. You reside in the realm of fois gras, just to goose those who are interested in culinary puns.

In a mixed up world like this, I would love to see any and all amazing acts of kindness . . . to fans, to those who are helping us, and to bands that lost their way but could find it again if they wished to do so.
