Summer NAMM Canceled

NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) was originally scheduled for July 9-11 in Nashville. The show was just canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past, NAMM was always good for some videos of our favorite musicians. Famous folks, especially guitarists, would show up to perform at trade show booths. This is a financial blow to the merchants who use this trade show to market and make money.

Sad, but expected, news. Every sector of the economy is taking a hit.

But it is wise to practice caution until things stabilize. I am amazed by how many people misunderstand what "flattening the curve" means. It does, thankfully and hopefully, mean less overall deaths. But it also means that the issue is spread out longer so that the HCS can deal with the issue.

With the weather getting better (in most places), I fear what people might do. "Oh, the sun is shining and there were only XXX number of deaths yesterday . . . time to get the crew together for a hug festival." That is exactly the wrong choice to make. And, given human nature, I am not sure if some people even factor in the XXX issue. You know? "I gotsta' get myself out and about. I feel great!" That is also a virus which, sadly, seems to know no age group.

I certainly hope people can manage and make due, and get through, all of this. It is heartbreaking what this has done to people and their livelihoods, no less what it has done to so many families and friends that are now coping with losses of an entirely different sort.

Best to all of you.
