The Doobie Brothers Reschedule Tour For Next Summer

I am having issues with the security key on this website and I apologize. It is taking a little longer to fix than I anticipated. Thank you for your patience. Right now, it is slightly quicker to view the site by going to bringbackglam.net.

The Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald was another tour I planned on seeing this summer. I was waiting to buy tickets for this one and I am glad I did not for obvious reasons. The tour is now planned for summer 2021 but some dates have been completely canceled. Ticket refunds are available.

It is May 27 and we are marching right toward June 1 which is supposed to be the day Motley Crue and Def Leppard announce their "plans" for The Stadium Tour. The plans will be mostly rescheduled shows for 2021 I'm sure - but I guess we will wait and see.

Lots of people giving the Crüe flack for not announcing cancellation (like it's up to them)... likely they want to announce new dates when they do say anything, and that can be a logistical nightmare when dealing with venues which give baseball first dibs (and baseball doesn't know what they are doing either)

It's always easier to complain or attack when you aren't involved and don't understand what all goes into setting up events in this scale (cough *Trunk * cough)

Of course it's getting rescheduled, they aren't announcing anything until they have something concrete to announce.

PS - who knew Michael McDonald was back with the Doobies?? ...well I guess anyone who had tix, I just don't get the memos unless it's in hard rock / metal vibe I guess...

The earliest the 2021 baseball schedule will come out is September. Trying to think off the top of my head, but I believe Toronto is the only city where the baseball team might not have first dibs for dates.

Serious question - do bands get paid up front for say like a tour Motley/Def is putting on ? Do they get like a percentage, like a signing bonus for an athlete for example ?

Mike, I knew! I was looking forward to it at Shoreline. But I know all the concerts "I was looking forward to" are not happening this summer. The Doobies, sans McDonald, put on a good show. The Doobies, with McDonald (he has appeared sporadically in the past few years, as I think they are all good now), have been great. And yet . . . I still think about him following around Peter Griffin on Family Guy. Makes me chuckle.

That said, Mike, I think that bands like Crue are part of the equation and could be involved in letting fans know something. This isn't being done without their input. Contracts were signed (dealing with what, you are correct, I have no clue). If An Chovi can do it on a smaller scale, so could Crue. Granted, not necessarily saying "It is not happening." But I do think some of this "we are waiting to see . . ." stuff is passing the buck. In this case, I do mean money. And that isn't fair to fans of any band.

That's a great question, GNR. I know, for festivals and such, bands get a guarantee. When things fall through, they keep that. But when it is a branded tour with a major Corp. pushing it, I have no idea. I would love to know too.

So are you saying this is all the Crüe’s fault, HIM? That they are solely the only reason this has been held up? If so, how do you know this? Or is this yet just another reason to slag on the biggest glam band to ever hit the scene? Just curious. I do know that there are many other tours that had been scheduled for a while, that are finally just now starting to get cancelled so I think this whole ‘“never happened before in our history” thing, has negative affects on everything & lottsa bands don’t know exactly how to handle it. Oh yeah, have they still not started giving refunds? That’s an issue if not, but if they have, I don’t see a real issue although I know some will always take their shots directly at the Crüe & try to blame them solely as if Nikki or Vince are so broke they need our piddly money. But thanks in advance!

Bkallday, you misunderstood me. I know we get into it all the time. But this is really just a misunderstanding (I think). I didn't say, and never would have said, that it is _all_ the Crue's fault. What I said was: the Crue could lead on the issue this time, if they wanted to do so. They aren't passive spectators on this tour, just following orders. Do I know that for a fact? Of course not. But this was a tour that was primed to get butts in seats, all based on the fact that the Crue were coming out of retirement and bringing along Lep, Poison, and Jett (in descending order of interest, I guess?). I find Lee's comments to be tone-deaf re: the situation, so perhaps I should have directed my ire at him.

But Sixx has also been a bit iffy on all of this (and I will be clear that this is him re-releasing a general PR on his Facebook account that was signed by all the bands): "Our priority during this unprecedented time is to make sure that we are being as thoughtful and responsible as possible in the decisions we are making regarding The Stadium Tour and that we are putting the fans’ health, well being and safety first and foremost. We are currently weighing all options and are awaiting further direction from the powers that be." He said that on May 1. What is wrong with what he said? Nothing, generally. But a band like the Crue isn't hog-tied by 'the powers that be'. I have to assume they are actively involved in this process on some level. And Lee's comments about talking with Sixx suggest that very fact.

Sure, Jett saying she isn't comfortable touring right now is likely to draw snickers from some right now. But you know what? She spoke about her concern for fans, for her band, and others. That means a lot right now. And, Bkallday, that isn't me being some made-up, imaginary, PC snowflake. She stood her ground. She said what she said. Compare what she said to what Sixx said. Yes, Sixx and Co. have more skin in the game. But that goes back to my point: the Crue are involved in deciding when, and if, this tour happens.

And even Michaels, himself no stranger to promotion, has basically said he has no clue and is waiting to see. But only wanted to go out when "we know no one's gonna get sick and we can go out there and bring it 1,000 percent."

Granted, this is a really odd time right now for a lot of people. And it is worse for those lower on down the pole (the crews, the stadium workers, the people who work near stadiums, the fans, etc.). So I guess what I was trying to say is this: a lot of people want this tour, any tour, to happen and some of them could give a squat about the Crue. But it helps when fans see their idols taking the lead. And I think the Crue would look really good right now if they did. Simple.

Again, Bkallday, wasn't trying to start something. But I hope I clarified. And that May 1 post said that they would release new info on June 1. So we will get some news very soon. I just think we could have heard something more sooner. That's all.

What I still don't get is that Cincinnati is postponed (have the emails to prove it, as has the owner of this site, and she posted about it), but other than that, not one other date on the tour has been postponed???

Either TM screwed the pooch with the Cincy email, or they're just pushing this announcement out for no reason whatsoever.

And then RAMMSTEIN, my one super small sliver of a ray of light for later this summer postponed their tour yesterday, so summer is officially canceled for me. Urgh.

Sorry to hear that, steverox. I had my summer concert plans placed in a blender too. I wonder if that cancellation was specific to city/county/state restrictions that were announced, making it even hypothetically impossible? Like I said, we are promised a fuller picture of the whole tour come June 1. So Monday should be interesting.

This will be a different summer, for sure. But I am hopeful for small gatherings with great friends, good food, potent potables, and a never-ending steam of great music emanating from the sound system! I guess this will be the summer of tail-gating, full stop!!! At least it will be cheaper.
