The Trailer For Metallica 'S&M2' Looks Incredible

At the end of August, Metallica will release a special boxset called S&M2. Last September, the band performed with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra to open the new Chase Center. That performance was a reprise of what they had done with the Symphony 20 years previously.

I cannot wait.

Not to me. Snooze fest. Thrash metal and an orchestra don’t mix with me. Just my opinion though. I’m just not much of an opera/orchestra/wine & cheese type dude.

i’m out. if you want to do a song or two with an orchestra as a sonic experiment, fine. anything more and it’s a turn off for me. did we not learn from deep purple that most fans don’t care for these experiments?

It's cool if say an orchestra all of sudden breaks into "Metallica" during a performance, and be like this is my kind of orchestra. Or Metallica breaks from their mold and whips out a Ennio Morricone tune.

But I agree with most here, don't really know who this caters to for a full performance. Covering your own songs, again ? I just looked it up and can't believe that the first s&M is like 8x platimum... crazy ?!?!

I am in GNR and Bkallday's camp on this one.

Not sure what the point is . . . if the point was to stretch in new directions, they have done that plenty of times before. If it was to revisit a format that rarely works (see my previous post on this sort of thing), I wonder why and to whom they are catering. Actually, no I don't. I know to whom this caters. And that is not me. Enjoy.

Love these fellas but let’s face facts. I’m going with the consensus here. These guys could fart over chugging drop tuned guitars while James growls like he’s mondo constipated and just ate a 5 lb block of cheese, and it’d still go 3X platinum.
