'No Time For The Summertime Blues'

Lukas Rossi, best known as the winner of the TV show Rockstar: Supernova has a new song. It is called "Summertime." The tune is peppy and catchy. It really does make you feel happy during this weird times. There are a lot of famous cameos in the clip, including Tommy Lee. What do you think?

I’ll take “ Summertime Girls” from Y&T. To this day it’s the song that makes me think Summer. As for this video, it’s pretty cool. Song not so much. On a side note, I think he could’ve made some serious money by selling advertising space on that forehead. You could fit another damn face on that bad boy....😁

Need I say more?

Agreed, Gary. Agreed. But don't take away work from Helen Hunt with those sorts of suggestions! Only so much advert space being sought these days.

To me, this sounds like sub-prime Sublime . . . and that is saying something.

I do give him props for enlisting a veritable who's-who of VH-1 Classic-style celebs. Poor Matt is looking like Uncle Fester. And at least he is keeping it cheerful, as Allyson suggests.

Trying to play to mainstream with B-listers In video? Dumb. Should’ve rocked it out a bit more. The auto tune vocals or whatever the F that is looses me every time.

Summertime Girls. Now that’s a song and video for summer! Even though YnT base feels it was jumping the shark.

‘Magic’ By The Cars has been my jam this summer (don’t know why. Blame Covid). Go ahead, bash away. lol Damn. The Cars sound is still so fresh today as it was 35 years ago.

Jaws. Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Poison. DL. Crüe. Now that’s a cure for the Summertime Blues.

Great name drop, The Cars have a great catalog. Just like one of Him’s faves, ELO! 2 massively underrated bands these days, imho.

Lukas is out there doing what he loves and doing his best to make it work during a pandemic when most artists are struggling. If people would take the time to read his quotes about the video, he simply wants to help people be optimistic and forget about the BS of late. Also, all profits from the video go to a charity that helps kids with cancer. He took a huge leap by venturing out of his alt/rock comfort zone in an attempt to appeal to a broader audience. I am not generally a fan of the pop genre, but this entire album is very good. It amazes me at how childish people can be for a laugh and how quick they are to criticize others work, let alone take personal shots while hiding in the darkness of the internet. Cool.

Adam. All good bud. This site generally is not a cesspool of people being mean. I have been posting for about 10 years now. And most of the comments on this specific thread are from vets of this wonderful site. Like a heiny hole; opinions are generally something we all have.

Not begrudging the artist or being mean. Charity can be cool. Losing ones self in a song is a great drug. I just am not into the time. It’s cool. I’m old. I don’t like much new music at all. I do try though.

Come back and post again sometime. Peace

Wow Adam, triggered easily or what??? Slow your roll, bro. Kixchix has been around here for a while and she didn’t say anything that should’ve offended you so badly. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thanks for the nod, Bkallday. Yes, ELO is a great band. And Kixchix, you mentioned a song that has such vivid memories for me. "Magic" is such a great song (and, at the time, that video was great too). Appreciate you jogging my addled mind.

Adam, thanks for posting. I mean that. I appreciate people defending artists. A good cause is something that I am all about. I go out of my way on here to applaud artists, esp. those that I don't really like, for doing good work for those who are less fortunate.

But . . . how long have you been reading BBG!? I only ask because you seemed to lash out rather than reading the room. If you are a long-time reader, cool that you finally posted. If you aren't, what was your motivation in posting? I'd love it if you continued posting. And I am not trying to dress you down for defending Lukas. Point in fact, I appreciate you pointing out that he is helping a charity out. The great thing about BBG! is that people give as good as they get. It can get a bit intense at times. But we also defend our POVs. And we occasionally make jokes. Heck, everyone likes a laugh, right?

Adam, calling readers childish as an opening line only gets you so far. So I say this: welcome, and keep adding to the conversation. In fact, I would love a reply so I can get a better sense of where you are coming from. I don't think that is childish. Do you? And the darkness of the internet is a funny thing. I don't know you from Adam either, Adam. So careful not to trip on your own jab. It works both ways. Hope to hear from you soon.

Adam, I bet you are busy like the rest of us. But your lack of response is, well, telling (in some sense). Those of us at BBG! like new posts from new posters. And we are also pretty good at replying to each other. So when are you going to post again (on this or another thread)?

Something? Anything? I think, given your initial post, you were given the green-light to respond and were treated pretty well. What say you? I would hate to think you were just stopping by to make your point and then moving on to the next site that mentioned a band or artist that you liked.
