January 2021 - New Music Playlist

The first month of the year is usually pretty lean when it comes to new music releases. In the rock and metal world, this seems to be true for 2021. So far this year, there are three albums in the rock and metal category which I think are worth discussing. Also, Weezer is due to release a new album in a couple days and that will probably be good, too. I have selected three songs for the January 2021 playlist so far - please add your suggestions as well.

Labyrinth - Welcome To The Absurd Circus is really good. It was released January 22 and I've added the track "The Absurd Circus" to the playlist below. Holy hell, just listen to the guitar solo. Trust me.

Sammy Hagar and the Circle also released an album this month. The covers album is called Lockdown 2020 and is a nice mix of classic rock and Van Halen tunes. I picked the Who cover of "Won't Get Fooled Again" for the playlist.

Finally, my initial list features Accept with their album Too Mean To Die. It is out later this month, but a few songs are already available. I picked "The Undertaker" to share with you today. I think it will be a good representation of the album as a whole.

Nice picks! I'm not a huge fan of power metal, so the Labyrinth song is a bit meh to me. But the Sammy cover is solid, and I was a bit surprised at how good The Undertaker is.

I believe the Undertaker is retiring from wrestling... I think I read that somewhere. That's too bad, because Accept's song could be the entrance or victory music

Just watched Accept’s Undertaker video. Pretty awesome song and visuals. Best new music of 2021 for me. I don’t listen to much new stuff so that ain’t saying much

Speaking of “Best of’s”, I will be dropping my “Best of 2020” in Comments of Allyson’s “Best of 2020” post from way back and let you guys know ... Who cares, you may say, until you check out the 11 albums that made my list!

Saw ACCEPT in 1991 at Hammerjack’s in Baltimore with UDO on vocals and then in 2010 at Firestone in Orlando (plus VIP Meet & Greet where I requested “Midnight Mover”) with Sabaton opening ... POINT BLANK, both times ... SO KILLER!

Kickin’ myself for eternity as I coulda seen ‘em SO many times before 1991 and didn’t get off my a*s to do it! You bet your sweet bippy, I will seek them out as soon as they come back around after the vaccines kick in and the bans get lifted!

p.s. Why does something tell me ticket prices are going to be through the roof after the new national vaccination plan allows us herd immunity and The Herd of Metalheads clamor like cannibals for the tickets!

Wolf's Accept, LLC, is a real cool business. They make music. They have a lot of former members who also make music. Nuff sed.

Well, one more thing: nice to see Mark making some money. I doubt T.T. Quick made much scratch back in the day. Cool band though.
