Springsteen Makes Bank

In a continuing trend, Bruce Springsteen has joined the ranks of musicians selling their catalogs. The Boss just sold his for a reported $500 million.

Sony did the deal and I do have to wonder - how will the music giant make that money back? Will "Born To Run" be in movies 100 years from now? Maybe Cheerios and Jeep will use the track in future ad campaigns six decades in the future. Who knows, but these big paydays are good for musicians. They might as well get as much money for their art as possible.

I do wonder how current rock bands and pop stars will fare 20 years from now. Outside of like 10 modern artists, no one makes Springsteen - Stones - Aerosmith - Madonna - Prince money anymore. The album sales just are not there and a person can only sell so many shirts and concert tickets. Taylor Swift, Adele and Twenty One Pilots will be fine. The rest is anybody's guess.
