News Of The Week Roundup: Week 50, 2021

It was a really long and busy week for me work-wise and I spent most of yesterday just plain wiped out. I can't believe Christmas is next weekend. I've spent today running errands, watching football and trying (unsuccessfully) to ignore yet another day of chronic sinus pressure killing me ear canal.

For now, the news update is going to be short and sweet. I can't be the only person feeling burned out and exhausted these days. The Onion basically summed it all up for me:

COVID-19 Omicron is just grim. The cases double like every three days or something. Lots of new restrictions to go with the infections.

Sorry you had such a hectic week. A huge news story was overlooked. Senator Joe Manchin stood up to President biden and shut down his build back better bill. The pressure was heavily applied but the Senator held firm. He stated no way he could head back to West Virginia and explain why he signed such a flawed bill. Rumor has it he may switch parties.

Yeah, and the coal miners of West Virginia, Manchin’s key voting block, came out against him on his rejection of the bill … Buh-bye, Manchin.

And I, just as Biden does, commend Trump for finally full throatedly supporting vaccines … This, of course, way after causing the deaths of so many Americans over the last year plus by never doing so initially.

It’s also hilarious to note he had to throw in that he came up with the vaccine itself.
