'Primeval Desire' Is A Great Glam Track
Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 02:51PM
When you think of India, you probably don't conjure up notions of hair metal, but Girish And The Chronicles wants to change all that. The India-based band, shortened to GATC, has been rocking together and making albums since 2009. Now the band is celebrating a new deal with Frontiers Records and their upcoming album, Hail to the Heroes.
The intro to "Primeval Desire" sounds like it is straight out of 1989. This song is really worth your time, and you should add it to your workout playlists, too!
You can pre-order the new album at the link below.

But here's the thing: I think that Pradhan (that's Girish) and his man-bun are the problem. To be fair, I also think they signed a deal with the devil in going with Frontiers. Yes, more exposure. But I have to assume, alas, more meddling in their sound. Meddling that brings some of their weaknesses to the fore. My proof (of a sort) of this point? Their second album, with a lesser known label, sounded better and less forced. So how do those two things link up? Simple. By getting pushed to sound a bit more like the mainstream (chasing the dream, right?), it exposed some of the weaknesses in Pradhan's singing. Micheal Sweet he is not. I wish them all the best though. We need more metal, from more places, getting more recognition.
Now for a sidebar:
For my money, the best Indian band in the world is Kryptos. Afterburner (2019) is a slamming thrash album. Lewis might be the last man standing. But he knows what he is doing. If you like old school 'Tallica/Slayer/Overkill, Kryptos is your answer.

Check out “Rock & Roll is Here To Stay”.
Their image could use some tweaking (including a better name) but this song proves just how great they really are … Just crank up the headphones and close your eyes … As you will note, the dude’s got some serious pipes on him, too!
