Is The Metallica MasterClass Worth It?
Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 04:06PM
MasterClass is an online subscription service that offers classes from top performers in about any field you can imagine. Now Metallica has a class that teaches us regular mortals "how to be a band." I didn't know this class existed until I heard an ad for it on satellite radio today during my coffee run. I was like "Whoa, that's cool" and made a mental note to check it out when I had some time today.
The trailer definitely looks interesting. I don't know if I would get anything out of the course because I am not in a band, but I suppose watching the videos would still be entertaining. I think MasterClass is $15 a month. I really don't need - or want - another monthly subscription charge, but I would be curious if anyone has done this course and their thoughts on the value.

1. Write killer songs when you are young and hungry, full of yourselves, and perhaps a bit inebriated.
2. Get a bit too messed up, lose an integral member of the band, while still being a bit full of yourselves.
3. Decided to fiddle with the bass, clearly (you two . . . I am talking to you!!) still full of yourselves.
4. Go to therapy. Question: should we be so full of ourselves?
5. Viola! No guitar solos, lose riffs, and "I am a table"! At least one member is still full of himself (and likes to play tennis).
I think I already have it figured out. And I was going to post this on Napster. But, you know.
And Metallica should be a MasterClass for pete's sake for longevity, change of music landscape, dealing with internal strife, death of a bandmate, etc. etc... oh and they've played on all 7 continents.
Glad to see you are still full of yourself! … Or selves, depending on how many of these nom de plumes are actually you!
