2021 Rock Hall Nominees Announced

The slate of 2021 Rock Hall nominees is out. I honestly don't have much to say about this, except that Iron Maiden and Rage Against The Machine must absolutely get in and I think Foo Fighters are a lock. Your thoughts?

How is Carole King not already in as a songwriter at least? "He Hit Me (It Felt Like A Kiss)", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "Don't Bring Me Down ", (You Make Me Feel) Like A Natural Woman, "Up On The Roof" are just off the top of my head. It's high time for Todd Rundgren & The New York Dolls too in my opinion.

I agree that Foo Fighers are a lock. So is Tina Turner, and I will be disappointed if Iron Maiden & Rage don't make it in.

But, before I go, I will say this: if David Johansen has any hot! hot! hot! cred left, he will pull a Rotten if they get in, esp. in memory of Sylvain x 2 (RIP).

maiden and rundgren are the only ones on that list that need to be in there. it’s long over due for both. that said, i’m sure rage and foo will be hard to keep out meaning there’s little room for “rock” after them and a rap/hop artist get enshrined.
as for tina turner, i have no problem with her getting in, except she’s already in there with her ex-husband, so do they meed her solo efforts?

Maiden & Rage need to get in. I love the Foo, but wait a few years. What's the rush? They are still very viable (so is Maiden for that matter) but I think its just too soon for Dave & Co..

The Foo Fighters do not, I repeat DO NOT deserve to go in before Mötley Crüe & Judas Priest. Neither does Rage for that matter, although I agree they should be in. Maiden should’ve went in a long time ago btw!

Fact: The FF have sold 30 million albums worldwide
MC has sold 100 million worldwide
JP has sold 50 million worldwide

But then again, this is the R&R HOF we’re talking about so obviously facts do not play into the equation. Smfh

Agreed Foo's are a lock. Just too much name recognition and a likeable bunch of guys. Tina Turner as well. And I think RATM is a lock too just because it's "cool" to like them.

Also the Go Go's probably because how many female rock bands are ever going to get in if they don't? So they get the female rock vote if such a thing exists.

Then it's a crapshoot, and unfortunately many of those other "rockers" on the list have more name recognition than Maiden.

But of course we all know Maiden SHOULD BE A LOCK, and frankly should have been one of the first ones in if it's really a rock hall of fame, but we all know it's not. Same for Maiden, Crue, Foreigner sigh.

My vote is to simply change the name to "THE POP MUSIC HALL OF FAME". Which is perfectly fine. Just stop calling it something it isn't. Maybe I'm just too old, but there are just too many people who have been nominated and/or voted in that didn't, don't and never will play rock 'n roll.
