I Mean, Yeah

It's true. All of it.

I suspect this post by Allyson will get a casual nod of agreement from some and a 'hell yeah' from others. But I also suspect that everyone here misses concerts, myself included (and my posts as of late have been pretty obvious on that point).

Thing is, I know that BBG! readers don't wander around wearing rose-colored Donnie Vie glasses. There are most certainly things about concerts that are awesome. Full stop. But there are also things about concerts that are anger-inducing. So what say you? What are the highs and what are the lows of those events that we all want to see happening again soon?

I'll start:

The Roses: good times with good friends; seeing a new band blow you away and an old band exceed expectations; the pre-func in the parking lot or adjacent areas (there used to be this super-sweet spot, next to a park, near Shoreline before Google swallowed it up); the recap after the show; the ticket stubs; the people-watching; random acts of kindness and camaraderie with total strangers.

The Thorns: ticket prices; merch costs; beverage and food prices; poor sound; lackadaisical performances; disgusting bathrooms; reserved lawn seating (yeah, that is a thing in recent years . . . thanks, Shoreline); parking lot patrols with an axe (not a kick axe!) to grind; handsy security (which, depending on the person, can also be a good thing!); rude/drunk/stoned/smelly/all-of-the-above audience members; cell phones.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

The worst.....CELL PHONES! I can’t stand it! Take your photo and put it away, enjoy the experience. Too many times I’m watching the show through someone else’s damn phone. So annoying.

I miss live music a ton like I'm sure everybody on this site. That feeling when the house lights go down and the show is about to start is electric. I liked the first post on this. There are definitely cons like sky high ticket prices, but I mitigate that by going to a few "big" shows a year, and then catching as many smaller club and tribute shows as I can. Way more bang for the buck that way.

Cellphones - agree - don't like 'em. That said, I usually will have it out for a couple of songs, but also make sure that for the vast majority of the show I just enjoy the show.

If you guys think the bathrooms are disgusting...imagine what it is like for me and all the other glam girls! It sucks holding it for hours. Trust me. - Allyson

Steverox, you nailed it!! That feeling when it is just about to start is an amazing one. Even with bands that I have seen dozens of times (that do the same sort of thing every time), it often induces nostalgia-based chills. And even if the experience _after_ that sucks, you still got those chills!!!

Allyson, I can only imagine! And I say that thinking that we should tip our hats to you and all those other glam girls!
