News Of The Week Roundup: Week 9, 2021
Another week has come and gone. Time for a news roundup of stuff I thought was interesting, weird or important.
Trump's White House doctor Ronny Johnson is in hot water with the Pentagon.
NEWS: Pentagon IG issues scathing critique of Rep. Ronny Jacksonβs time as top WH doc, per report obtained by CNN, concluding he made sexual comments about a subordinate, violated policy on taking Ambien and drinking alcohol and created hostile environment https://t.co/VnPlVT8TIh

I don't even know what to say about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. What a shitshow. Between allegations of sexual misconduct to apparently cooking the books on COVID nursing home deaths, it's just going from bad to worse. I do have to question, though: what about all the QAnon nuts who were screaming that every death in New York was being counted as COVID? Hard to make that argument (again, based in no reality) when Cuomo was allegedly doing everything possible to decrease the number of COVID counted deaths. Oy.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo faces allegations his administration underreported COVID deaths in nursing homes, and accusations of sexual harassment. New Yorkers tell @AP the scandals are consistent with Cuomo's aggressive, intimidating style of leadership. https://t.co/iZPNvnCYbk

The Golden Globes were on Sunday night. I do not watch awards shows but I know that my beloved Schitt's Creek won for best comedy. I am so sad the show is over but it left us on a high note!

Also a big winner at the Golden Globes was Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century. I read the book a couple years ago while on vacation. It's the type of book that is haunting. It just stays with you. Like, it is so good, I will find myself randomly thinking about it from time to time. The book is a piece of long-form journalism by Jessica Bruder. I am planning on watching the movie soon.

Texas is dropping all COVID restrictions on Wednesday. Considering Texas is almost last in vaccination numbers and highest in new cases, I think this is a little premature. Concerts can go back to full capacity in the Lone Star State and they can in Mississippi, too. Again, a little premature. We are SO CLOSE. Let's not blow it. And on that note, this obituary is tough, but fair.
Please read this entire obituary.

New research says lifting weights for the arms can actually make you a better runner. I am trying to get better at lifting period. I even have a fancy Tempo just for weight training. I just prefer cardio so much. I get bored lifting and I am weak. And yes, this means I should lift more, I know!
Resistance training above the hips may actually improve your running efficiency, new research suggests. https://t.co/UivRSnjYne

And I leave you with this... intergalactic travel is coming soon, apparently. You know, for those who can afford it.

The orange buffoon warp speeded whatever as the doubters doubted, now (most) believe in that safety net.
And asking a question about a Qanon nut, just answers it yourself. When will we stop associating right = Qanon and left = radicals (insert word for Qanon version). There are crazy people in this world, we've seen it our whole lives, but jumping to conclusions that everyone believes them it what baffles me as NEWS ?!?!
