Farewell Dusty Hill
Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 03:57PM
Back here in the obits section - I mean Bring Back Glam! - more sad news: Dusty Hill, founding bassist for ZZ Top, has died. He was 72. The band says he died in his sleep. Hill - and ZZ Top - are music legends, especially for southern rock. They were huge in the 80s too. I'm glad I got to see them live once. Seriously people, see the bands you love live now while you still can.
ZZ Top is currently on tour. No word what will happen with those dates. The band is supposed to perform tonight in South Carolina. Hill was already off the tour for a few shows for a hip issue.
Dusty Hill, bassist for the rock band ZZ Top, has died just days after he had taken a leave of absence due to a hip issue, the group says. https://t.co/t4kTY74EwH

I only saw ZZTOP once, the last time they toured, and was front row right in front of Dusty. Thankful for that.
RIP
Got to see ZZ Top twice …
The first time was at Capital Centre (now demolished) in Largo, Maryland off “Eliminator” and the second at Madison Square Garden off “Recycler”, where I had the pleasure of experiencing their show POINT BLANK, 4th Row Center, a moment I will NEVER forget.
However, I lament missing them at their most bad*ss, when they played Cap Centre off “Fandango”, the album which contains one of my favorite ZZ Top songs, their cover of “Thunderbird”. Ladies and Gentlemen, THAT is Rock & Roll!
For more live fun and Dusty in fine form, get on YouTube and type in “ZZ Top Party On The Patio Live” to witness one of THE MOST amazing, bad*ss (AND hilarious!) performances ever captured on video.
God Bless & Godspeed, Dusty!
