Farewell Meat Loaf

Meat Loaf has died. He was 74 and the apparent cause was COVID. These announcements seem to come more frequently now. We keep losing our beloved rock stars. I wonder if Meat Loaf was a better actor than singer? He was so talented in both realms.

TMZ is the only one that’s mentioned COVID so I’ll just wait on further, more reliable sources. Was never a fan but RIP Meatloaf, nonetheless.

Saw Meatloaf perform (and it was a performance) in Harrogate, England on 9th March 1988. Great memories of that and my final year at Leeds Polytechnic.
Been playing Bat Out Of Hell and BOOH II during the day... RIP Meatloaf.

Agree with the second half of BK’s comments … Was never really a fan, however I recognize his popularity and the appreciation others have for him, regardless of the fact he couldn’t sing his way out of a paper bag.

Mediocrity at it’s finest always has a place in a pop culture that consistently embraces it.

Love the album cover art, however, and I believe that sold the album as much, if not more, than the crap music inside it.

As for his cause of death, multiple sources are reporting it to be COVID, including the right leaning New York Post (Meatloaf also leaned right based on his past comments and anti-vax and mask positions) AND the left leaning Daily News.

However, we should withhold final assessment until the cause of death is formerly released and well respected bastions of fine journalism and fact-checking such as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Miami Herald, The Boston Globe and others report it as such.

One thing I will give Meat was his penchant for humor and goofball antics. Boy George commented today that Meatloaf once grabbed him by the ankles and held him upside down when they ran into each other one night at a London restaurant.

RIP, Meatloaf … May your memory serve as a reminder to all of us we should unite to stop politically motivated misinformation from causing so much death and destruction for so many.

RIP as well. Also not a fan. But recognize his impact. And I found his roles in movies funny, as he played into and out of his larger than life music persona. His health? Not really great in recent years. His politics? I leave that to others.

Bkallday and Metalboy! (nice to see you posting again), just before he passed, Metal Sludge also noted it was Covid-related. Not that they are better than TMZ. Well, actually, Steve Rachelle is better than TMZ. Harvey Levin is a soul-sucking parasite that should be locked in a room and forced to watch his smirking self on video until he goes insane.

How do I feel about Levin? Meh.

Again, rest in peace Mr. Loaf. Condolences to his family, friends and fans.

And, also, RIP to Louie Anderson. Odd dude. Often funny. Cancer sucks.

Sad to hear of his death. Always wanted to see him in concert, but now it won't happen. I enjoy many of his songs, but my favorite is "It's All Coming Back to me Now."
It's unfortunate the covid vaccine became so politicized, since it really does decrease severity of symptoms.
